Oil breaks Food Variety morale bonus

An easy test to verify - get all the food types in your party inventory (at time I verified this, I had 30 of each for all food types). You should have a +8 Food Variety bonus to your party morale. Now pick up *one* Oil, and check your morale again. The Food Variety bonus will have fallen to +2. Sell the Oil and you'll immediately go back up to +8 again.

I don't *think* this is intended. It wasn't too hard to figure out, since Oil appears in all trade lists by default before the end of the rest of the food items (all food items are clustered at the top of the list otherwise).

It's a bit more nuanced than is described above. It is additive if you buy it by itself. If you buy it with other food items, it then drops your food variety bonus to +2, which can only be fixed by dropping it or selling it. Then re-buying it will have it contribute to food variety again. The problem is, if you ever buy it with other food items during trade........

Hmm, it's even more complicated it seems. I stopped using it altogether.

Interesting, it became additive to morale when morale was above 90, and when I took it out of inventory, it lowered morale by 1.

It's not the oil that is the problem. The problem is the max morale bonus from food variety is +8 and if you add another food type to it it goes to +2. It happens with all food types not just oil.

Didn't pay attention to if oil was consumable. Thought wasn't.

I can confirm that it isn't limited to Oil (which is consumable ). Just now I added Beer to my inventory when I was at +8 for food variety and it brought the bonus back down to +2. It looks like it is an overflow error of some sort.

Summary:
Having more than +8 food variety will drop to +2. Cannot have +9 currently it will go down to +2.
Can confirm it has nothing to do with oil in itself.
Tested dropping any other food item and it goes back to +8. (Tried them all)
oil is consumable and can be eaten by your troops contrary to the posts above.

How to Reproduce:
Fill inventory with
beer
butter
cheese
dates
fish
grain
grapes
meat
oil
olives
wine

observe the food variety: +2

remove any of the food items to zero. observe food variety rise to +8

Actually I'd like to confirm to this by saying that it's not the Oil consumable itself:
But the actual amount of variaty goods in the inventory.

I had been using oil without issues, but then I added dates as my 9th consumableand suddenly my variaty moral boost dropped to 2 from 7.
Upon selling the dates it went back up. And I can actually swap any of the consumables around as I like, it's only when adding the 9th that it shows this behaviour.

Than it’s not a bug at all! Getting too much variety in food, soldiers become lazy and weak-willed. Everything is logical.

I got used to it already, it doesn't seem they even checking this forums because this bug was reported many times from release and still not fixed.
