Some like it, some don't. Generally the honorable lords like it, and the not-so-honorable ones don't.

ON that note, if you want to make friends, become very honorable. In my first game, I had 200+ honor, and was friends with tons of lords I'd never even met .

Yeah forgot that.  And yes I should have specified that some lords don't dig if you do quests.  I don't deal with those guys anyway   Unless their daughter is good looking

1. Ask them who they think should recieve a fief/be marshall, then kiss their ass.
+~1-3
If the lord votes for someone else, and you support that choice, you get 1 with the lord your talking to. And 2 with the lord in question.

3. If they own a village, do quests there, then talk to them. I don't know how often it ticks so try after each quest and see if you get +1 rep each time or not.
+1
Sidenote: +1 When you're on good terms with them. -1 When you're at bad terms with them (or a certain personality, not clear on that) ~"I can handle my own affairs"~ or something in that line

4. Get in fights that they are in, especially if they are losing. Also sieges.
+1
Sieges=+1
Random fights +1-15 (highest I got), this is based on how hard they were losing. 10 vs. 400 gives very high relation bonusses. (also +2/4 on faction relation)

For every 3 honour you get a +1 relation with ALL honourable lords, which is about 1/3 I believe.
Prison break is +5 (I thought) and some honour.

Oh yeah prison breaks.  When you see somebody help in a prison, go ask around for quests. I usually see who he's related to and go ask them or if he's married, ask his woman if she needs something. If I'm gonna do it I might as well get paid right?

Also, I didn't know at first that you can dedicate tournaments to married women as well.  Once they have positive rep with you, you can pay them to increase your rep with people.  I don't knwo how it's decided who they help with though.  Maybe lords that share the same area and wait at the castle they are in?

You've seen a good-looking daughter?

Names, please.

In my version, 1.113, the prison break quest is bugged. I can't complete it, even if I A) capture the town, B) break the lord out, with or without his help, C) Pay ran... can't.

Improve rep with family, right? But it costs a lot, and your chancellor can do the same.

Hey, it was an optimistic statement ok? Kind of like when you tell your kid their drawing is so awesome even though it looks like they **** on the paper and smeared it around with a marker.

Give the ladies some love

I didnt know you could do that with your chancellor guy.  Sweet.

Get 1.125 man. I have no problems at all except for the occasional crach on save.  Maybe 3 times it's happened to me since it came out.  I save often though so maybe that's a bigger pain for others.  I figure realistic saving is not realistic if I can get myself in supremely deep crap by accidentally clicking the wrong dialogue options or something like that.

In realistic saving, play more careful, in every aspect
Makes the game way more interesting. But in 1.113 I've got no crashes nor serious bugs so far, so why change into the fix which breaks more than it fixes, as far as I've heard around on the forums.

I have fewer crashes in the new version.  Maybe I'm just lucky. Sieges are still an issue for me but it doesn't crash I can at least get away and see waht's going on again.

Is it worth investing skill point in Athletics? Does it really improve running speed significantly? I have one character with 5 points, and another with 0, and I can't tell the difference :X.

Also, how much does encumbrance matter? I'm trying to make a sheild-less two-hander character, but I'm having serious speed issues :X (both slow running and swing speed), making it quite useless (compared to my other character, in which I just run around with scimitar/steel shield and pwn everything...).

Well there can be a few things that can slow you down:

- A low athletics.
- Heavy armor, Shields are counted too and more then 1 can slow you down a lot.
- Swinging or holding your shield up while moving can also slow you down.

So if you're going to create that character make sure you dodge the arrows, have some light armour like Sarranid guard armor, Leather boots and gloves and any helmet (the helmet doesn't really matter) You will run quite fast as long as you don't randomly swing while running towards the enemy.

How much does athletics matter though? Is it like a  1% run speed increase/level, or a 10% increase? :X. I know all those factors are supposed to affect speed... But nothing ever seems to make a difference (passively... I notice holding shields/swinging etc)...

For me the favourite so far is Lady Tamar. She is a Vaegir lady and a classic blonde beauty. I have almost gotten married when I saw her and then I thought damn, forget that ugly one in a headdress, my character deserves a hot wife (well, as much as it's possible in Warband). I had to work my way up from -2 relations, I won my first two tournaments just to impress her. It's a bit of a letdown though how small the interaction possibilities are with your wife after being married. I mean, they can't even tell the locations of other people in the realm when all other ladies and lords can.

That's not exactly what I thought of when you said "interaction possibilities". I thought this thread was going to go in a completely different direction.

Oh, I have a question. Do village improvements stay if the village changes hands?

I was thinking that I could maybe assign some fiefs to myself first, pimp them out with a mill and whatnot and only then distribute them to vassals. Does this work?

Ugg,.. I doubt your vassals would care/receive any real benefit from it... Seems pretty pointless, even more so than the mill in the first place...

Actually I almost mentioned her. I'm such a dork, I actually copied her face code + brown hair onto Endegrid while I was adding my custom troops to troops.py. Obviously, I then married Endegrid  Tamar's brother, whatever his name is, I never get along with him.
