If I export my character (because of a corrupt game), will it import alone, with equipment, with equipment & inventory, or with everything including party? I managed to save a game and, as soon as I move or try to enter Reyvadin, the game crashes.

Keep the save game safe somewhere else, and reinstall?
But as above poster said, you lose the rest. You could edit in extra money to make up for it though...
Regarding editing, what tool do you use to open and edit a character or savegame?

A quick question, If i keep all of the kingdoms standing, by helping some in war and changing, could i carry on the game for as long as i wanted? but what i would want to do is get rid of the Khergits

If you want to get rid of the khergits without interfering to much (So while not being a lord of a faction) You could try being a brigand raiding there caravans and farmers or you could help the factions whom they are in war with by doing quests for lords (with some luck giving them troops) and freeing prisoners from the khergit prison.

This is how ever a very slow way compared to dealing with them yourself as a lord. If you do not interfere with any of their business and just do whatever you want you can let the faction exist forever unless they are all highly aggressive towards 1.

The game itself will do little without the players intervention.

Bump, Muchiepoo has thus far made 8 threads which can be found on page 1. This guys starts to many threads. I already adviced him to ask his questions here if they are just small ones.

I figure he doesn't check the reply's

I'm a level ~20 Vessel of the Nords, about 100 days into the game, we're at war with Swadia and Vaegirs (though Vaegirs is more of a passive thing, neither side has really had more than a few border skirmishes/looting), and I seem to have hit a lull in the game. None of the other lords will give me more quests, I just get the "I have minor things which I'll give to my own people, but I'll let you know if I need something important" blather. So I can't gain relations with the lords/king, the Marshal is patrolling around his castle, the other lords are sitting in theirs. Nothing is going on. When I attack Swadia holdings no one comes to my aid.
Is this normal, how do I un-stall my game?
I remember a few of these threads back for the original M&B, so I'm just guessing it's normal, but back then even when there was a lull in fighting the lords would still keep giving me the "I need to send a message" quests, but now they think I'm too important to carry those messages.

#2
Anyone know of a small mod (i.e. not a total conversion) that awards relations/money/etc for defending other Lords holdings?
I captured a Swadian castle by myself, and didn't request it from the King; it was awarded to a Lord but he wasn't around to garrison it. A Swadian army rode up and besieged it. Since I was in the area, and I didn't want to see the castle my men just died for to be overrun, I rode in and defeated the army. Logically, you'd think that would improve my relation with the new Lord of the castle, since I helped him keep his holding. So any mod that does this? Grants relation points for defending holdings with aren't yours?

In response to your first question, do you have good relations with any of the other Jarls?  If so you can 'suggest a course of action' then ask them to follow you.  They'll come along and you can siege castles with a couple other lords in tow. Try to catch them out in the field, if you ask while they're in town they'll say they're too busy.  Stick with it and Ragnar should make you the Marshall before too long.

I don't know of any mods that add the loot table into siege defenses.  Perhaps next time you should let the castle fall as this might cause anger amongst the Jarls and inspire them to pull finger and go take it back.

Does anyone know of one? Because this interest me greatly. Tonight I fought a defense against the Nords. I had only 100 men, the Nords had over 800  The loot would have been killer.

If anyone finds or makes a mod like that, I want it, too. I've massacred hundreds of Swadian and Vaegir invaders as a Nord, yet I get exactly no loot for the dozens of top-quality units killed, plus no money or the like. Maybe increase the good-loot chance but drop money gained to 0 when defending a castle/town. Likewise, I think there should be attacking rewards (to really make a siege worthwhile).

Don't want confuse things here but I think my game does give loot after Sieges! It never used to under 1.113 but now I'm running 1.125 I get horses as loot - loot from seiges and capturable lords during seiges. I should put in a note of caution though cos the only time I can reliably note this is a big defence of a town against Khergits. I should also stress you get nothing if the enemy is forced to pull out before the end - ie takes too many casualties - this often happens to me and cancels the battle conclusion screen including the inventory transfer/loot option.

A imported character only has the skills and money saved. you will lose everything else including you gear.

I've imported a character into several games and never lost my gear.

I must be doing something wrong. :???:

[Postscript edit: You're right, Sarge. Just tested it. I must be thinking of something else. It was fun, though, to have my Level 37 character slash up 10 looters with a rusty sword...]

Well, I'll post one as well. Can someone please give me bandit-hunting tips? As in, I'd like to know which bandits tend to inhabit which areas, their relative difficulties, and loot possibilities; additionally, I've noticed that past a certain party size (25-30 or so?) I just stop seeing bandits anywhere, but, especially with a party <10 or 20, they seem to be in swarms. This has nothing to do with spotting range, etc., I'm just wondering what factors affect bandit spawning.

As far as I can tell, in order of lewt-fatness:

High-level deserters (various locations, equipment)
Sea Raiders (Northern coast/Nord territory): Hard difficulty, gives heavy armor, quality weapons
Steppe Bandits (Steppes/Khergit territory): Medium-hard difficulty (only in early game, as they're all mounted and very fast on the worldmap), gives poor armor and weapons, horses if script is modified.
Taiga Bandits (Snowy land/Vaegir territory): Medium-hard difficulty, gives decent armor and weapons
Desert Bandits (Desert/Sarranid territory): Medium difficulty, gives below average armor but above average weapons, horses if script is modified
Mountain Bandits/Forest Bandiots (Near mountains/Near Forrests--Rhodok/Swadian territory): Medium difficulty, give about average weapons and armor. As far as I can tell these are about interchangeable?
Looters (Everywhere): Very easy difficulty, give very poor equipment. Perhaps the only enemies Recruits can beat one-on-one.

Any thoughts?

My tips for Bandit hunting?

Well obviously once you have a decent sized party, everything is fair game, but in the opening stage of the game what I do is this;

Firstly I hunt looters solo. A single-person party cannot be caught by anything on the strategy map, you are just too fast so you are safe from the higher level mounted bandits.

I just pick the looters off with my crossbow and take on parties of up to about 13, this helps a lot with really basic equipment and start-up cash. Get your hands on a club or cheap mace and start taking prisoners, ok, 32 dinars a head is nickel-and-dime but in the beginning it adds up.

I usually do about 4 parties, then I round up a few men and do the merchant quest.

I like Khergits to start with because with only one upgrade, you have horsemen and can immediately start collecting companions and moving on to better game, namely forest and hill bandits. I don't take the Khergits higher than the first upgrade mainly because apart from bandit hunting they are pretty poopy troops I find, and as the cash starts rolling in I add better quality troops and companions. My personal favourites are the Vaegirs, not as a faction but their horsemen are good and there are rich pickings in Vaegir-land. From here on everything is fair game although the sea raiders are the last that I farm because although their loot is the best, in the initial stages they usually beat the stuffing out of you lol.

Hope this helps

Peace

Hello everyone!

I have two questions :

1) As I've read the bugs topics, I've seen that there is a lot of troubles with 1.125. Are the related bugs and issues due to our computer configuration and performances or is this a Taleworld issue?

2) Is it really necessary to update Warband to 1.125 (I'm playing 1.13)? Cause when I read all the posts, I see that a bunch lot of bugs and crashes are reported.
My 1.13 version is still clean and runs perfectly and I don't wanna take the risk to upload to 1.125 and that my game starts to crash. I'm not a kamikaze.

Tks a lot

1.) They're game related and not performance related.

2.) All the updates are save-compatible, I myself haven't had any problems with upgrading it so you should be fine.

I'm currently on version 1.123 (Heck I can't find 1.125 or actually I didnt bother to look for it).

Are there any changes if you compare 1.123 to 1.125?

Effectively, I was asking about save-compatibility but many people are reporting bugs about 1.125.
That's why I'm asking for the real utility of upgrade.

I'm play only in Single and I was wondering if it shall be wiser to stand for the next update ?

Several questions regarding M&B.
1. Where are the looters? I remember when i was level 2 there were huge hordes of looters wandering around, and after whatever patch made them bandits joined together, i was fighting hordes of 400 or more looters. I would tell my knights to only use blunt weapons, but they had none, so the just punched the looters to death. But they are not spawning now!
2. Why can't king Graveth like me? i have 99 RTR, and he still does not recognize me!(Also have +35 relation with him)

1. I don't think looters spawn very much after the start of the game, and AI lords will run around killing them when on patrol as well.

2. Perhaps you need to own more lands to be recognized? Some of the other kings never recognize me either, but it doesn't matter, since all you gain if recognized is a bit of RtR, and you already have max RtR (99).

Regarding the RtR question, I own all of swadia, Khergit land, and all of viager land exept Rivacheg.

To answer your question about relations. That's normal.  I try to single out a guy and get rep with him before I'm a vassal to get a head start on this issue.

Gaining rep with lords like a pro: values listed are off the top of my head.

1. Ask them who they think should recieve a fief/be marshall, then kiss their ass.
+~1-3

2. Attend their feasts and talk to them there.
+2

3. If they own a village, do quests there, then talk to them. I don't know how often it ticks so try after each quest and see if you get +1 rep each time or not.
+1

4. Get in fights that they are in, especially if they are losing. Also sieges.
+1

5. Just flat out talk to them whenever you see them unless it means a chase. You might have beat the crap out of somebody they hate or helped somebody they like and get a point of rep without planning on it. Usually this happens like once then you stop seeing it.  You get the dialogue but no point.
+1

6. If you are ok with the contorversy and rep hit with whoever the target is, do the quest to denounce another lord.
Not sure how much this is worth but it's no small number. +5-10 maybe.  I think the other guy is like -15

7. If you have a certain lord you want rep with, only ask him. Otherwise you are starting the timer on some of the quests and won't get it from the guy you want.  Example, got the quest to free a lord, then couldn't get the same quest from the guy I actually wanted rep with to keep the dowry costs down later.

Really? Every time I do that and then talk to them after I get the "You helped out my subjects of X, I don't like that, they're MY subjects. -1 rep to you!"

Thanks for the run down.

You can see it by going Notes>Characters>You
I don't know how to lower it though.
