This is the kind of things that makes other 3d dudes work harder to get better

Latest personal project.

Ended up just a bit over 6000 tris. 1024x1024 diffuse with alpha, specular and normal.

That's an amazing piece Faradon. Do you have professional experience modeling or did you go to school for it or something?
Selflearned. Want to got to a school in the future though

Texture is a 1024 one

CursedPirate: Be careful when you phototexture, do you see those ugly parts on the back of the weapon?

Faradon's models + textures is something I call "next generation modding" or "russian work". In this case it's next generation modding.

You should make some kind of tutorial Fara. Or just tell us which soft you are using + which tutorials were the most helpful to you. Your work really amazes me.

Faradon: nice work, looks abit too clean to be finished but that's just IMHO.

cursedpirate: my advice is to learn how to make textures from scratch, textures taken directly from photos don't look good for games almost 100% of the time. You should also pay attention to your unwrap around the gun, because while it might seem smaller and less important than the two sides, it looks bad without them properly UVed and textured.

vlad_flyzzz: nice work, especially on the front anatomy and head, but you should pay more attention to the topology of the back muscles because from the triceps, rear deltoids, part of the trapezius and lower back its all incorrect.

I did it for fun. It took me 25 min. and there is no detail. Texturing a flat model is so easy, but as I said just for fun. I' m making more detailed model now. Poly is about 3500. I' ll post it soon.
New one will be beautiful too  + has a scope. (No, it will not be an AK-47 if you ask)

Looking good what's it going to be.
Also I dont know what happened but earlier today i went to try to fix that sword but I couldnt find it  so I started to just make a knife/dagger and ran into a couple problems. http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/3783/frontjl.jpg First do you see the middle I am trying to make a handgaurd there to better seperate the blade and handle but the whole thing becomes horribly deformed whenever I try and do you see where the final section of the blade begins how can i get rid of that final section like what tool should I use. I tried to figure these out but unfortunately can't get it. One more quick thing how do I know how many polygons my model has. Thanks in advance.
