I usually start with a cube, make the hilt from it, and then extrude the grip and blade from it. I also generally only use a 8 sided grip, as in the game it's only seen in the inventory screen and in the scabbard, and second you can barely tell the difference between a 8 and 12 sided polygon at that scale.

some of the swords I seen in this thread are wastes of polygons, too many faces on things that barely show up in game.
 
Yeah, but this sword is only for one player. It's not like there is going to be 200 of them on screen. Same with the helmet.

I agree there. I'm just used to trying to meet poly counts for TLD  :razz: but when making a hero, reward or unique weapon, yeah, I can go a bit overboard as well :wink:

I like it. You might want to either make the hilt more substantial, or thin the blade a bit (for realism purposes). It's a good model though.

BTW, Petruz, you might want to stop double posting. You do it quite a bit. :smile:

ok.. But I'm not into texture very much as you can see above..

getting a truely realistically balanced sword is pretty tricky, if you don't understand it well. but here's my advice:

either make the hilt larger or the blade smaller. also, with a blade like that, you need a bigger pommel for it to be properly balanced.

Voutare: I can give it a shot, if you want. do I see a door texture in there?  :???: lol

Um.. i could texture it but, it would stay metal.. metal like normal metal not old metal..
 
That helmet is awesome! Can't wait to see it textured! Is there any chance it might be added into the TLD movie stuff mod?
