If Dojo was allowed a 6v2 against IH three times I doubt Lazlo would rule against a duel. :razz:

As long as both sides agree to it, pretty much anything goes. Or more to the point a general from each clan agrees. You could trade hexes over coin tosses or betting on a pub match if you felt like it as far as the rules of the game are concerned.

It's nice when people read and understand some rules, but it's 10 times better to see someone who just 'gets it'.

A 1v1 in the campaign would be the equivalent of the battle of the 300 champions. I was talking to a KEENoid (I think it was Grunt) about this very topic recently, and we pretty tempted to have at it right there and then! :smile: But I refrained. Imagine if you did a 1v1 first to 1 round. Hahah epic.
 
I PROPOSE A CLASH OF CHAMPIONS!!!

Each clan selects their champion, we have a 5 man tourney....each fight is 1 round, to the death!!!

Each clan puts up 1 of their hex's, winner takes all!!! (winning clan will received 4 hex's)

Each champion chooses his weapon at the start, he will have to use it for the duration.

We could hold it in the keen duel arena, an epic clash between 5 titans of the battlefield!

How about it?!

What is HOLMGANG?
Practised in medieval Scandinavia Holmgang literally means "To walk on a small island". Holmgang is a duel, a way to settle grievances, a way to restore lost honour and an excuse to hit your opponents in the face with an axe.

The Rules:
Holmgangs were traditionally fought between two opponents as a way to solve a dispute or avenge a slight. Not having a three metre square ox hide our Holmgang will take place within a fairly large square field marked out at each corner with a shield on the ground. The teams will be Nords and Vaegirs and you may equip yourself with any melee weapon or armour of your choosing, although you may only have a single shield and the total cost must not exceed one thousand denars.
  • To challenge another participant you must call out their name.
  • To refuse a challenge is to be dishonoured and will result in being disqualified from the Holmgang.
  • When a duel starts the participants will enter at opposites sides of the arena. The fight begins as soon as they both step in.
  • If you leave the field during a duel you will be disqualified and must withdraw in shame.
  • If you loose the duel you will withdraw from the Holmgang, you may respawn, but will no longer participate.
  • Only one duel may take place at a time. The next duel goes to whoever first challenges someone after one of the participants in the ring have fallen.
  • Although order goes to the quickest tongue, you may not challenge again until everyone in the Holmgang has had their turn to show their courage. If you are the only person to have not fought, or are a fight behind the other participants, you are given preference to challenge.
  • Players in the Holmgang may not respawn to restore their health. They can receive new weapons or shields from other players, but the Holmgang is a challenge of endurance as well as strength.
  • To keep the peace no participant may draw their weapon outside of the arena except in defense of their life.
At the end of the Holmgang there will be one warrior standing. They will earn the praise and admiration of their fellows and the honour of a place amongst the hero's of the sagas.

The time and place will be set by consensus of the particapants.

I'm actually playing around with making a Holmgang dueling mod at the moment, but rather than waiting the forever it'll take me to get that done I think the above rules would work pretty well. And it's better than a champions only fight, means we get a lot more participants. Might want to scrap the no healing rule though.
 
Being recognised as a skill only clan, KEEN accepts the 1v1 tourny.

KEEN_Thorn or UDC Champ KEEN_Toadmeister will fight for us.

This is the general formula, and plays out for more fun. So this is acceptable. However how many v how many? your defending faction? need some info. (Assuming the siege defense has been decided on castle 4)

If you succesfully defend then it will be a counter attack, if you fail your defense then we take all your lands and it will count as a barbarian invasion. I believe this is how it will work. You could choose any of our edge hexes if you lose the first, but decide now rather than on the day if you would rather attack a different hex than A4 in the event of a loss in the defense of your temporary stronghold.

Yes you may, but yeah, as Took said above you can attack any hex IF you lose.

We still need to determine numbers and factions, which would best be done a.s.a.p.

Also, I am for the clash of the champions idea.

Even if it's a once off, would be awesome to spectate.

We are thinking Sunday 8:00pm 8~10 players depending on how many we can get. We havent finalised numbers yet since we dont have a forum or anything like that, trying to contact ppl.

MAP: Castle 4 (TBH not very happy with spawn timers but even if they're not changed we'll go ahead) If thats cool with Lazlo
FACTION: Viegers or is it Veigers
Numbers: 8-10 (will have a definite number by Sat)

We are unsure how seiges work atm, how many rounds is it? how long does it go for etc etc, can you please elaborate Lazlo?!?


If we win, we will counter attack A4!
If we lose, we will barbarian invade A4!

What faction would you like for the 2nd match?

P.S i am excited! seige will be uber fun and i bet the others clans will be bulk jealouse (expect an increase in castle attacks in the future)

ALSO!!! KoS/SPLH would you guys be up for scrimming with us Saturday night on Seige so we can practice and strategize. Sorry but that invitation is not open to Dojo cause we'll be using some of our uber special tactics.
 
ACC, unban my friend Long_Bong from the GoN servers, he appears to have been banned by an admin that wasn't even playing (not only not playing, but sleeping), this must be a bug.



 
If it's an admin ban, you're going to have to submit a ticket through official channels. ACC1 has a wad of regulations and procedures by GoN to abide by and follow.
 
Calis: rounds and victory conditions are agreed upon by the participating clans.

Might I suggest deciding which factors would be most favourable to your side, then proposing them to your opponents. :smile:

At the moment seige settings are;

Round timer: 4-5 mins
Defender resp: 20 secs
Attacker resp: Instant

What i propose is to reduce the defender resp to 5-10 secs, this at least gives us a chance to fight back if we all die. At 20 seconds if you were to kill all the people on the flag you could cap if before we even respawned. We could test out the settings on the GON server and see how it plays out. At the moment i beleive the respawn timer for defenders is a bit too long.

At approx 5 mins per round, a good amount of time would be 45 minutes max. So best of 9, first to 5 wins.

Do these conditions sound alright with you guys?
 
Managed to find the code for defender respawns in the module files. Or at least part of it. Point is I should be able to set it to something lower, but the mod would have to be hosted. I might be able to set my computer up as a temporary dedicated server for the match if you guys would like though.

oh so its not a setting which can be changed..... i see. Well we'll have to sort it out but if it comes to it we'll be happy to just play it on the GON servers as is.
 
STORY TIME

Continuation from page 102!

With news of the approaching Dojo army the men of Rawr set to work. After conferring with his engineers, it was decided that they would not be able to hold the village against a large and disciplined war-host as they had so aptly proven only days before. The walls were too wide with not enough men to man them, the village itself was undefendable as once the enemies were over the walls the street to street fighting would allow their greater numbers to swarm the defenders. With that in mind the village was put to the torch and the army moved to a more defensible position.
For weeks the men toiled to cut down lumber from the nearby forest and erect a log fort. The freshly cut oak was impervious to all but the hottest of flames and even a swing from a great axe could naught but chip it. Before long on what used to be an empty plain now sat a formidable barbican, with four high towers and a gate of iron banded logs it would take a mighty host to breach its walls. But it was a mighty host indeed who now camped before its stout gates for the Dojo emperor had not been idle since their last encounter and seeing the barbarian threat Emperor Doomicus had gathered to him a large army as his agents scoured the realm for news of the barbarian chief and his band. 

“You better go get Matt, looks like things are going to get interesting” Calis told a messenger who sped off to the keep, as a group of riders rode from the enemy camp. All along the wall men watched as the procession made its way towards them, “about bloody time those goat shagging whore-sons got here, I swear I was in danger of dying from boredom” grumbled Gerhart as he shoved his way next to Calis. Motioning for the gruff warrior to be quiet Calis waited as the riders came to a halt before the gate. “Who here commands this rabble who dares to encroach upon hereditary Dojo land?” the speaker declared as he dismounted and peered up at the defenders with a look of disdain in his eyes and a sneer upon his lips.

Lord Payne, sovereign of the southern marshes, major of the imperial army, cousin to the emperor, may he live forever, stood before the barbarians crude defenses wondering why he was conversing with such scum “filthy animals, I doubt whether they can understand civilized language, the fact they haven’t already run off back to the hills is clear sign they have not the intellect to comprehend their impending annihilation”. Pulling out the proclamation he called out “You are now on Dojo land, bestowed upon the emperor may he live forever by the gods themselves as is all the land within Calradia, if you quit the field and return from whence you came you will be spared, but to resist will mean certain death for non can stand before the might of the empire” then pulling out a ceremonial axe he slammed it into gate and mounted his horse.

Turning to his Lord; “well Matt, what do you propose?”
Hefting a throwing axe, Matt replied “Well Calis, i think we should respond in kind” and with a grin his arm snapped forward hurling the axe from the wall. Like a comet it spun forth, striking the speakers horse in the head, pitching its rider to the ground.
Surprised by the sudden show of violence the other riders turned and sped back to camp, leaving the now unhorsed and rather bruised Major to limp back to his own lines with the defenders laughter on his heels. “Looks like they’re not waiting for monkey face to get back” shouted Matt as the laughter quickly faded out for those upon the wall could now see the enemy forming ranks and readying for battle.

With a shout the Dojo army surged forward, the sound of a thousand boots pounding across the plain like the thunder from a distant storm.....

Stay tuned for next weeks action packed post "the battle is joined"! will the men of Rawr be able to repel the attackers or will the Dojo empire prove too strong and oust the barbarian horde!?! All will be decided this Sunday!

Those who do well in the match will earn their place in history and their deeds will be detailed in the next post! so there you go, another incentive to do well :smile: (this applies to Dojo as well, the next part will introduce readers to some of the characters who make up Dojo's illustrious army)

Ah, I think if it's standard 20, we shouldn't stray SO far from it. It's obviously at that number for a reason.

I was thinking something like 15-20 seconds.

Best of 9 is fine for us.

We pick Sarranids to attack Castle 4 against Vaegirs.

We'll put a list of 10 people together and we'll just match from 8-10 whatever you manage to muster.

Defending A4 we wont have Khergits or Nords.

We're still to decide a faction there, but we'll let you know shortly.
