Oblivion + Mount & Blade combat

Wasn't there already an advanced swordplay mod for Oblivion with dismemberment and such? I remember downloading it at some point of time maybe a year or two ago.

You are probably talking about Deadly Reflex. It's a good combat mod, but very different from this. Last time I played it, Deadly Reflex improves power attacks, giving them the chance to dismember body parts. It also adds a kick, a shield bash, and two sneak attacks. Other than that, it makes you need to time your blocks better, which makes the game a little less hack 'n slash. I still much prefer Mount & Blade's combat simulation though, hence I am trying to recreate it.

This looks faking awesome

What do I need to play It , I'll certainly buy everything for this mod!

It's not released yet, will probably take a few months more. It will be released as a standalone mod, but will also be part of MERP, our Middle Earth total conversion. For the standalone, you will just need Oblivion, and a few free downloadable plugins (OBSE and Pluggy). To play MERP, Shivering Isles is required as well.

can you please send a message to where i can download this plugins ,

So Oblivion (vanilla) with shivering isles? damn please message that to , I'm going to do it Step by step not to make a slightest mistake.

You'll have to buy Oblivion + The Shivering Isles. OBSE and Pluggy are plug-ins that you can download here (http://obse.silverlock.org/) & here (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23979).

Beats movement-based swings.
Also someone did post about this mod a while back, around the time when Gondor was being built, there were some hype there, never mentioned the M&B combat though, which I assume is a new idea .

First, I'd like to award you with a gigantic "**** you" for not telling us you were a part of the MERP team

Second, that looks like it'll turn into something quite awesome, as the chaps above have said. Excuse my skepticism, but I can't exactly trust any random chum who comes in here saying he's developed a concept for Mountandbladish combat in Oblivion. A member of the MERP team, on the other hand...I mean, you guys have proven that you take your mod seriously in the past, and I love everything Tolkien, so I believe a wee bit more trust is in order

Haha you are unbelievable, the video isn't enough proof?

Oh, it is. I'm just hedging my bets. There's a long and proud history of elaborate trolling here, so in case it proves to be fake (which I don't think anyone is entertaining the thought of), I can say "well, I was always a bit unsure". I've just been abused too much, you see.

But no, the MERP team is fantastic, and this will be incredible once fully implemented. I'll have to find my Oblivion & Shivering Isles discs, create a couple installs, and spend about three days setting up load orders for each "style" of game, with the Combat Mod you're working on as the foundation.

Yeah, and then I'll have to nag Lyze for the second time this year via PM so he can give me his cool mod list, all of it because I'll feel like losing countless hours in Oblivion again, and I'll curse myself because I haven't saved my mod list or made mod backups before uninstalling the last time.

Nice going, you MERP pricks.

I think my record so far for hunting down and setting up a perfect and stable load order with as many mods as my computer and the game can handle is about 72 hours.

But then I got bored. The combat mod would spice things up. Vanilla combat was practically non-existent.

Yes. Also, the voices of the combatants when they would sustain an injury made the game sound like a very slow porno.

That must have been when Minas Tirith was published, which is very awesome and much loved. I myself joined the team about 5 months ago, and only came up with the idea and method of implementation 3 months ago. So yes, this is a new idea.
MERP is growing a lot lately, we recently created a post-to-show-you-are-active thread, and about 30 developers posted in there within a week to show they were active. We got quite a large team in my opinion.

 I wouldn't have believed me either! In fact, my own team mates didn't quite believe it was possible when I wrote my planned method of implementation, only after I created my first video and showed some of the mechanics, they were convinced and excited.

In MERP, we will have our own voice actors, so naturally the combat voices will be redone as well to make it fit. For the stand alone version, I don't think I really have another choice than using the vanilla combat voices.

Oh god yes, at first I thought you were trolling when you said "Since Augustus" but since then you have proven yourself, looks amazing.

What do you find so fun about Oblivion anyway? It's kinda like X3, except that you could become a galactic industry conglomerate with your own fleets and sectors.

Because with the right mods, Oblivion can be very immersive and is a great RPG. I played X3: TC, and I really don't understand why you compare those two games. They are completely different in my opinion!

Anyway, MERP will address all of Oblivion's flaws. Levelling and regions will be completely different, the world map is 7 times the vanilla size, and combat will become far more skill based and fun. And hey, The Lord of the Rings is one of the best fantasy stories ever.

Speaking of which, what are some good mods for Oblivion and Morrowind? Though, my computer can't run Oblivion, so that would have to wait a couple of months anyways.

Doh, but for Oblivion they are actually created and available to download.

Best ask that at the official forums.

That's irrelevant, the mods are great, but Oblivion is not. You can put the two together, but it's no longer the original game we're referring to. Lets keep those logically separate.
