im sure i read somewhere that the NPC mobs grow in size as your party does...

do they also shrink? iv been running around with around 15 men recently (used to have 30-35), but i still see massive groups of bandits and patrols

(15 guys vs 50 deserter crossbowmen=pain)

maby i should stop being lazy, go over to Zendar, recruit 20 peasants, an try an gettem to kill some of the 'easy' bandits....

The largest groups you encounter, such as War Parties, will top out at around 90 - 100 units when you reach Level 50. Most groups you encounter will be 40 to 60 units strong.

They should not be too difficult to handle once you reach Level 50 proficiency and that goes for the war parties as well. I manage easily with my party of 45. You need to 'Hold Position' your troops, then ride out ahead to soften the enemy up by yourself before telling your people to charge.

I am having difficulty actually getting Black Khergit Riders to fight me once I have 45 high-end troops in my party. BKR units normally top up to an average of 35 men and as a result they now run away from me.

Swadian deserters are normally 40 to 45 on the average. The best way to take them on is to either :-

1. Ride to cover; dismount and then engage them in an archery duel, or

2. Go on horseback with a bow, shield (reinforced steel shield) and a weapon that can be used with a shield (I prefer the Great Lance or Watered Steel Nomad Sabre). You'll find that if you ride close enough most of them will not pull out their crossbows, prefering instead to close in for melee. Use your bow on the ones without shields or those in the process of shooting crossbows, and then mop up the rest with your shield/weapon combo

Well belive it or not I saw a party of 240 black khergit raiders they only went like 5.5 but I still kept my distance.

I believe you but I never seen that many myself and I'm Level 50 for a while now.

The largest crowd I have encountered are Vaegir War Parties of 100+.

i think khergit and dark knight are not standard forces, therefore they are obeying other laws... and i guess its more common for khergit to be a large amount seeing as how they are from the east..

man, that's weird. the dark hunter groups get HUGE in my games! I mean, huge for a horde of knights. . . but I don't think it's gotten over 110

is it worth going through the trouble of hunting down ppl who have captured black khergits so that i can recruit the khergits?

iv been playing with the idea.... but i dont see many captured khergits around... actualy i havnt seen any around in awhile... i wonder where they all went.... hmmm.....

The only reliable way I've found to do that is to be a turncoat.

You have to find an allied party that's being attacked, then help them. Best way is to tell the whole party to hold position while you go out with a blunt weapon and knock them all unconcious -helps a whole heck of a lot if you're mounted and on a good horse.

When the battle is over, your allies will take a fair number of the prisoners before you get a shot at them.

You then need to get to an enemy city quickly, repent for your crimes and switch sides. Find the ally you just saved and slaughter them, so you can recruit their prisoners.

Yup. I'd say it'd be worth it to get Dark Knights -if they ever attacked someone OTHER than farmers and refugees, which they don't do often (if ever)- but I don't know about the Khergits... think they're worth it? Your call.

I don't think 240 is even possible. Anyhow, use the unofficial editor's parties tab to look it up. Each party has a min and max amount for each unit type. Thus, you can find the theoretical minimum and maximum.

Also, it seems to be tied to time rather than level although the two are correlated.
