NPC inventories

Ok i have a question about inventories. I understand how to get npc's to upgrae and things from the loot tables.
But what is the point of their inventories ? do they eventualy sell all the crap they collect, or does it just stay there for infinity ? am i free to take everything out of it and sell it once and while ?

I use them to carry all the crap that I auto sell in town.

It's a great addition. It allows you to pick up all those loot that you would sell (which is about 99% of all loot.) My inventory is now purely for my own weapons, the party food, sometimes trading items, and high-value weapons (which can't be easily auto-sold.)

Everything else, the hundreds and hundreds of loot, I just have the NPCs pick them up, and autosell. Extremely handy as income tool.

AHHHH so u use auto sale, i though that was for our inventory only. very cool thx for the info guys.
