NPC Capture, buying slaves

This is just a suggestion for after release (it's easy to say let's implement this or that but the devil is always in the details) but it would be interesting when losing a major battle if one of your NPC's could be captured at random.

Obviously there would be an option to retrieve him from the local slavetrader or maybe from the salt mines but it would be pricey..

Speaking of buying humans, if players can sell slaves they should be able to buy them as well. They could follow the same progression path as peasants or farmers. they would be slightly cheaper than buying units from the local tavern..

I agree. I think there should be a bunch of possible things that could happen to you and your heroes. Getting sold off is one thing, getting put infront of the enemy swadian count is another.

Depends on how you look at it actually. If you intend to keep them for the long run then hell yes, since you own them you dont pay wages. But they would have to be at least 200 denars each, because how would the slave traders make any money at all? Would be kind of dumb selling them for 100 and then buying them for less than 55 gold (which is what a peasant cost i believe)

That's a good point about wages - i didn't even think about that. Perhaps they should cost a LOT more to purchase.

i wouldnt send a bunch of bandits to fight for me against a bunch of bandits...
atlest not with a whole load of archers pointing at them

I think making slaves just another way to recruit fighters is redundant. They should have a unique function like carrying loot, forage food, (food randomly appears in your inventory once in a while) cleaning your troops armor etc (which could represented by a moral boost or something)

well, what about buying them to FREE them? after all, one could always roleplay the "anti-slavery" guy, no?

I would like slaves to be a cannon fodder unit. You just send wave after wave of them towards the dark hunters and tell your archers to fire into the mass.

Of course slaves would have the same offensive capability as a refugee, the plus part should be that leadership has a bigger effect on how many slaves you can own at a time.
