Nothing happens..

Hey all

Well, i like this mod and its features, but there is one thing diasppointing me

NOTHING happens.

I'm around 150-200 day and not even a single castle has been taken. AI Kingdoms keep besieging a castle, waiting there doing nothing for 4-5 days and then they leave.

They leave or, most of the times, they brake their sieging campaign because one by one their lords leave the castle, triyn' to catch anything that breathes and seems like an enemy, even if they don't have the necessary party speed to get them.
They go away one by one

This is highly boring.

Is there a way to force those idiot lords to stay with theyr idiot Marshall when besieging a castle?????????
This plus a totally random strategy of war by AI makes everything so boring, they don't even go back to a already sieged castle, they change everytime.

Really nothing is happening here.....

Oh, i forgot: AI lords keep geeting weaker and weaker by crunching themselves in unuseful battles around the world, making them prisoners or garrisoned in theyr own castle with no troops, waiting for a refill

.. ?

SD is trying to better the Lord's ADD-type behaviour but you have to remember, much of this is hardcoded into the game. I'm really, really hoping that this is a top priority for the new expansion coming out, because as it is now in Vanilla, the Lord AI have no ryhme or reason to their behaviour.

What faction are you Quilbo? The sitting outside castles happens ocasionally to me (joined D'Shar) but usually we assault and get eaten by heavy armour and big axes because our armour is apparently constructed from paper and wishful thinking...

Persevere and take some on your own, that's what I found easier to do in the long run and let the lords ponce about on their own. That way you can laugh at them when they 'misbehave' and get spanked. Plus, they are useful as bait for getting the bigger battles so you get nice stuff n recruits from prisoners.

However, I do agree this is ocasionally a bit annoying  but as Landwalker n froggy said, native is just as bad - I think a bit worse tbh.

And this AI behavior is all different from its behavior in Native how, exactly?

Cheers.

What? I didn't understand thee, sry..

Harcoded ,

Ye but, anow i'm with Sarleon, i was tryin to wait for somebody to take a castle, and suddenly declare war to them and take it while with low defenses

The point is that nobody even starts a fight with a castle, last time 7 Sarleon lords were besieging a castle with 800 people vs 100. They stood still out of the castle, and then went away. I say: TAKE THAT DAMNED CASTLE! Nothing..

And it's so for all other battles i saw, you mean i'm really unlucky??

Gonna have to disagree with you here, sorry.  Most of the AI is not hardcoded.  I'm revamping big parts of it but it's slow going.  The irony is that (IMO) the legitimately brilliant parts of the AI are things that few ever appreciate while the stuff that we see all the time (for example lord AI and autoresolve) don't seem to be up to par.

I'm already looking forward to v2 but if SD is modding the AI I'll be even more eager to give it a spin when it's released.

Kt0 is correct, most if not all of the AI is in scripts.  The Attention Deficit Disorder aspect, which seems to be the majority of the problems, is what I have attempted to address in this next release by making the lords who are following other lords much less willing to break rank and go after something else bright and shiny that crosses their path.

One of the hindsight effects of having so many different types of spawns and enemies, is that we increased the "bright shiny objects" for the lords to follow other than their marshal.  This of course is not desirable.

I would be interested in what you are revamping Kt0...

Best regards,

It's not so much of a problem for me. The Fierdsvain and Ravenstern are in a heated battle and castles are being exchanged often. The Empire also took a castle deep in D'shar territory.

I noticed from watching (when I'm accompanying a siege party) that they take very long to take siege of a castle, sometimes as long as 4 days, but that's probably because of low Engineering levels. I dunno. Or they're trying to choose the best timing. It gets disrupted whenever an enemy lord, caravan, or whatnot comes within visual range of any of the allied lords. While they're fighting whatever it was, the siege commander will not attack the castle, because he'd be outnumbered. So you gotta help the other lords finish the battle fast.

It's a problem with M&B itself, same in Native and other mods, where battles can take several days, even if it's 200+ soldiers against 50.

Anyway yeah, when I get impatient with them, I just ask 1 or 2 allied lords to come with me. We wipe out what we can in the area first, and then I lead the siege. They sometimes do their own thing, like go back to their fiefs or whatever, but for the most part they follow orders.

Well, how to make friendly lords to follow me? There is one, from Sarleon, wich has 35 personal relation with me, and i have 45 with Sarleons. But he won't follow me..

Is there a relation threshold to make the follow you?

Oh. Well, I dunno how to do it that way either. Never tried. What I was talking about was having them as part of our rebellion force, so they follow orders for the most part. Sometimes they just flat-out tell me "no" then I learn they're on their way to one of their fiefs or something.

I believe it's possible to become a king here in Pendor though, in which case it'll be easier to order them around. I never tried so I dunno.
