Not feminine enough?

I have made a femenine character. I have got my friendship with a lord to +100. I have asked to marry them and they claim that I am not femenine enough. I decide to ask someone else, they also claim that I am not femenine enough.

only a few lords like 1-2 per faction will marry you, you gotta try them all to even find one.

Seriously? What is the point of that? A lord can marry any woman but a lady can only marry a few lords?

Bad idea.

They warned you in the character creation screen that it would be harder. If you had a male medieval mindset, would you want to marry someone who threatens your beliefs and could kick your ***?

Well, there you have it then. You're not feminine enough. The computer cannot be wrong.

(google image searching for ladies just turns up a bunch of whores and old women.... and lady gaga.)

you have to remember that from a medieval mindset, a woman who ran an army and had great aspirations was very very strange, threatening and pretty much disapproved of in all regards.
to be honest, calradia is very open minded compared to what real-life medieval Europe would be     a female character has a tough life in warband, but its realistic (still a very easy life compared to reality).  tbh i prefer female characters for the extra challenge.

EDIT:
from a game balance perspective,  as a woman- you gain all your husbands land when you marry him, whereas a man will only gain political influence from his wife (I believe? correct me if I'm wrong, Ive not done much of this romance lark).
So getting a husband being hard is balanced out by greater reward-  hell you could get an entire city for your own, with your husband paying its upkeep!

Isn't there a way for lords to let you know they're interested? Like meeting them during a feast?

It's a game, who cares.  I'm playing a woman right now and I've already had 4 lords tell me they are my ardent admirer.

I think that the line the lord gives you when you first meet is a good indcater of his willingness to marry you.

you can generally tell by their dialogue,  if they make harsh comments against you for being a woman, the likelyhood is they wouldn't marry you-  but if you get a lord admiring your courage etc etc and telling you that he is an admirer of yours then he will probably marry you if he likes you enough.

In my experience, them saying "I remain your most ardent admirer" when you end dialog with them is the easiest way to see if they think you're hot enough. If they don't say it then they're probably not worth pursuing.

Buy him some drinks. Then he may think you look good enough to marry. Thats how my mother got my father to marry her.

Well, the only Rhodock count who marries anyone is count Tellrog. In every game i play he is the only lord willing to marry me.

it depends on each faction Swadia usaly have a rather high number of lords whos willing to marry wile Nord and Rhodoks have rather few.

Well, what if your character DIDN'T threaten any beliefs, and COULDN'T kick his ass?

I recently started a "concept character" like that. She's a well-born lady from the "middle" nobility of Swadia. She's prim and charming and very ladylike- she's not exactly a pushover (on the contrary, she's an immensely clever and conniving schemer) but she refuses to sully her soft hands with plebian or manly activities, like fighting or trade. She wears no armor (preferring rich silk dresses) and carries no weapons aside from a tiny dagger, which sees almost no use. She's got a well-trained retinue of armed knights and companions to do her dirty work, like killing bandits, but will not personally engage in combat. Her goal is to eventually marry well, and, through feminine guile and merciless intrigue become the real, albeit hidden, power behind the throne. Think Clytemnestra or Atia of the Julii, not your boring everyday Xena.

I haven't actually got to the point where I'm ready to marry any Lords yet, but if they complain that my painstakingly lady-like femme fatale "isn't feminine enough", I'm going to flip out. Not EVERY female PC is a butch wannabe!
