Not enough XP, way too much gold

Levelling is super slow compared to M&B1/Warband. I enjoy the game but I have played a single campaign for 20 hours and I still don't have a single skill, not one, past 100 points. I assume you want people to see the end of the skill trees at some point but you need to make it achievable in a realistic time frame. Because right now it feels like I would have to play this game as my full time job for months to get up there.

The other complaint I have is gold. I spent the first maybe ten hours getting tens of thousands of GP just from hunting and killing looters and selling their gear. This is the crappiest gear from the crappiest enemies in the game but I was rolling in money. This feels like it needs a bit of restraint.

I agree the levelling and skill development is way too slow. I feel that I'd have to artificially drag the game out if I wanted to get my skills to the higher ranks. But tbh the skills, perks and levelling needs a complete rework, there's too many perks that do nothing for the player character (e.g. governor perks), you get perks early on that do nothing until much later (e.g. ruler and fief perks) or you the perks that would be useful/interesting to get earlier in the game are pretty much only end game options (e.g. Merry Men).

The denars I'm ok with. They could do with providing more to spend it on and I'd like to see a money lending system but war is expensive so it makes sense to be dealing with large figures. Also what seems like a lot early on isn't later in the game.

Meanwhile in one of my games my character is sitting on 5+ million gold at level 14 with an income of 12-23k per day from all my fiefs. All in all, currently owned fiefs bring in way too much income imo, not to mention you can defeat lords pretty easy and some of the loot I have gotten from them was worth like 500k (plated chain armor)

Same here. I have tons of gold (300k) and 2000-3000 income a day with only 2 mediocre castles. 1 95 men army and 2 parties.
My guess is:
- decrease loot income (thanks for reducing loot horses)
- no money from looters and less from rival parties
- increase equipment prices
- increase soldier wages (Tier1 - 1-5 coins, Tier 6 - 50coins)
- building should cost significant sum of money and take longer
- repairing walls and buildings should cost money too
- horses upkeep(?)

Not sure if XP should get much faster. Guess it is theoretically divided for 60-70 years of character's life.

10k is nothing. A 100man army can chew through that in a single siege in wages + chow.
The problem is when he will get 100 troops, he won't even notice their wages.

You're going to need all that gold when you attempt to convince lords to join your cause. It's 350k to 1 million + per lord that you convert. Not clan. Lord.

I think a large issue is that there is practically no limit to how much trash loot you can carry, you never run into the weight limits.

Also, you actually get paid for your trash loot. In previous M&B games only trade goods could be sold at a reasonable price while gear was practically never worth picking up unless it was exceptional.

You are gimping early game here which is already slow. My guess to do more with income and expenses when you are a lord or trader maintaining property.
XP could be faster mainly because while a character's life may aim at 70 years, the early game should not really take much longer and the char stats by the time you can afford 70 men parties are rather average.

The most I paid for a clan to join my kingdom was 100k gold, they have 3 vassals and 2 nobles. I remember having 50+ charm at that time and my kingdom was at war with them.

Sure, but my guess is that income should increase along with player's carrer. Before getting my first castle and joining NE I had about 60k gold and 5 campanions equipped at least in tier 4-5.

Half of features are useless if you're already that rich.
- No need to search for new equipment since you already at max
- No need for quests at all, only to have 2-4 points increase in relations with questgiver. And 2000 reawrd to your 60k.
- You don't care about castles and your position since you already have all you need..

Sirsly, in Warbands castle was a milestone. Now I have one I like and trying to avoid getting another. And because of less lords/clans and same ammount of castles I keep getting them.

Im almost sure it will be increased durind EA. Some skills gain is also too slow.

The point is that it shouldn't take 70 years of my own life to get to the top of a skill tree.

I think leveling is way too slow. I spent about 80 hours in my first campaign and i did not level any single skill to max, the highest is „bow„ with about 150. I have got about 11m denars and conquered the entire map. So, there is nothing to do anymore and i was not able to skill out anything.
Also, i really tried to level the „smithing„ skill and it is almost impossible to level up and unlock new parts because of the smithing stamina.
The whole skill tree and leveling system needs to be improved. Some perks did not work either but this was already mentioned.

Ye, its pretty grindy atm and not that balanced at all. But most of the perks don't work yet anyways.
Guess you just have to mod it for now.

The solution to generous income isn't capping income, it's increasing sinks. Why people keep pushing this idea that money needs to be capped is beyond me and will turn people off of the early game when this game goes retail. Instead, you create more sufficient sinks for the income for the mid-late game.

Want to build stuff in castles and cities? Add a denar cost to this. Leveling up workshops whenever this is added? Add an upgrade fee to this. Your settlement got sieged and your garrison is low? There should be repair/maintenance fees to get it back up to acceptable levels, perhaps adding in a speed factor similar to building where the more money you put into the maintenace/repairs, the faster your garrison replenishes to fend off future attacks.

The reason of why people are swimming in hundreds of thousands and millions of denars like Scrooge McDuck is because no one, beyond a point, has anything to SPEND THEIR MONEY ON. Even after you buy the 600K breastplate and other overpriced items, you'll still be well off. There simply needs to be more sinks, period.

Regarding skills taking forever, this obviously needs revision, and the arithmetic issues involved in the calculations of skill gains needs to be fixed urgently.

Latest patch 1.0.9 they sure nerfed "income" (for me in my game). Went from a daily ~ +/- 400 to approx -3500k. That is with 8 workshops, 2 citys, 3 castles (all maxed out). Maybe it's wrong to say income, because it is troop wages that went through the roof from what I can see. Balancing this is not important compared to all the other bugs and gamebreaking issues, but it is annoying to be late game and still having to do bulk trading to stay afloat economicly.

Looks like there are some other factors makes them join you for alot of money of sometimes for free. (Maby Hate/Love his King? How strong are your Kingdom? etc.)
I joined Vlandia in my current save and tried to convince "Ergeon" from Battania for my first time in the game just for testing, he agreed instantly after the convice attempt was successful, joined Vlandia with his whole Clan "fen Derngil" without a gift.
Some other Lords wants extremly high sums...

It looks more like a balance thing that they want so much money to change the side, otherwise you could just convince almost all lord to join you and you win. (Maby it should be possible with an extremly high charming skill, so that you can get on without fighting if you want)
----

Making Money is too easy at all, it takes the fun out for me because it makes the game too easy, I don't know what to to with all this god damn money, I can't buy as much as I get from just one Workshop and my 3 Castles... It should be important to buy Workshops if you wanna make some real money just as it was in Warband... I get around 3700 Gold in a day for everything, my only Workshop gives me 655 Gold a denars the day.
I'm not even afrait anymore if I lose my whole Army because I just buy a new one, I could buy the best weapons and armors and almost everything else on day 240. Right now I have 320k Gold and I don't know where to put it.

The same goes for Influence, im getting 25 Influence a day and I own 2600 of it, I can put 300 Influence in the most Votes because there is nothing else to do with. It should be harder to get all this stuff early.
