-Decrease speed and damage on the Revolver.
-Decrease accuracy on all fire-arms except the double-barreled shotgun.
-Change to 1.006 melee & cavalry changes.
-Remove the European styled maps.
Oh boy, NW with American Civil War skins. Sounds fun
Hmm let's see...
And new maps.
And revolvers.
And shotguns.
And new units as a whole.
And new weapons.
And new artillery.
And new music.
And new sound effects.

You just don't like the melee system.
And I'm sure I'm missing other changes, aswell.
Like I said, nerfing the revolover would make it another Flintlock Pistol, useless. Everyone I've talked to is enjoying the N&S Melee more than NW. Plus it's 50 years later, the tech is going to be different in regards to shooting and such. Everything you listed is purely cosmetic except for the revolver and shotgun, for which I am against nerfing.

  • Penetration of bullets like in Deluge (you can hit 2 enemies standing in a row)
Never played Deluge, so what you mean with this? Remember, we speak of muskets! No shot had a single chance to penetrate more than 1 body (except for graze shot for the first man and hit another behind but that has to reduce the damage to both bodies ingame).
To be correct we speak about Rifles and... http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~momonroe/minieball.htm Note last paragraph and have a nice day

I find the aiming reticule really hard to see, I wish it were darker or something.
You should be able to change the reticule.  Just find one you like, and change out the ui_gadgets.dds file for the new one.

Springfield Model 1842 was a musket with ordinary musket balls.
The Springfield Model 1861, a rifle with Minie-system was just introduced this year, so most units used the old system (when a new weapon system is introduced, it needs a lot of time to make it standart). And it would be a bit imbalanced, because nearly only the Union used the Minie-System. The Confederacy only as captured weapons. Maybe in the next CW mod, when we reach the later years. Touché.

Not so.

Also, the Confederates would have had a decent supply of Enfields available to them, not to mention the Springfield 1855s in the various armories in the South.

I'm hoping for breech loading single shot carbines for cavalry. The increased fire rate could be compensated for by lower accurate.

Three words:
Revolvers, revolvers, revolvers.
Nerf the reload speed. Nerf the accuracy. Nerf the damage. Nerf the players tha-oh. Nevermind.

This is not a napoleonic flintlock pistole. Maybe you should change your tactics and avoid charging into an officer?
But yes, they will get nerfed somehow.. even that they are perfectly balanced in line battles atm!

IDK what the real plans are, but have you guys considered adopting Secession's avatar chooser?  You know the way you can customize your own soldier with different varieties of clothing and all.  Just wondering if its even possible.

NOOOOOO don't do it

while i realize this is just an open alpha release i would offer these suggestions:

Shotgun range needs to be less in my opinion.

Pistols seem ok to me with the exception of range, it should be decreased a bit, all the crying other than that is simply that, "crying" Revolvers are evil, this is why officers had them, to keep them alive.

would be nice to see other revolvers introduced such as the Colt Army Model 1860,Colt Dragoon Revolver,Remington Model 1858,Smith & Wesson Model 1,LeMat Revolver, and the Lefaucheux M1858 although not a big deal just thought it would be interesting.

again i realize this is just in alpha stage but at least delete the NW taunts and yells totally, its terrible to hear a union or confederate talking french or austrian  perhaps have a contest or accept submisions from the community for some better southern voice/northern voice ?

also i must ask why be tied down in mod title to simply 1 battle ? that being the first manassas ? when you could have made it a broader title leaving room for the entire war including many if not any battle from this war ? just a thought.

other than that we really enjoy your mod and i believe it will do very well, it's refreshing to see.

Could be possible done

What would be the meaning of different revolvers? When we have dozens of colts, it wouldnt make that much sense. They are all deadly..

We have tons of reenactors here and I asked since several months. Non of the reenactoment groups seems to be willed to help or record new sounds

Yes, its just the battle of Manassas. Why should it be a broader title? You can't represent the civil war in ONE mod at first. We have 2 guys in the dev team... how could we concentrate on every aspect of the civil war?
There were so many different units, tons of new weapon developments and hundrets of battlefields during the war. You can't represent all of that in one single mod.. There would be always guys who say: DAMN, why dont you add that or this unit? And bla bla..
Thats the reason why we concentrate on just that battle! With this tactic, we can concentrate the work on just the units, weapons and maps this battle was about

BUT... Manassas is currently Episode 1 out of 5 huge episodes planned for this mod here. Each Episode will introduce a new year, a new battlefield, new weapons and units.

I answer you in the quotes

I didn't see anyone post this yet.(If I am wrong, feel free to correct me) This is me being picky because I'm a reenactor who cares about authenticity.

I think there should be an increased emphasis on accurate uniforms. I understand that you were taking artistic liberties with some of them, but they aren't very accurate. For example, the 69th NY. At Manassas they were wearing red shirts and havelocks.(I think) But if you were trying to go for what they looked like after Manassas, there are still a lot of things wrong. I will start at the top of the uniform. The hat should be a forage cap and there should be no sprig of boxwood. The boxwood wasn't done until Fredericksburg and I can only find one reference to it after that.(A JFK speech where he mentions it at Gettysburg) I wont get into the leather equipment because I'm guessing it has either changed or it's still being worked on. I'm also pretty sure that the 69th never used gaiters.

Lol I wont post stuff about the other uniforms because I don't care about them.(Lol the 28th doesn't use them)

And one random suggestion, please don't add repeaters and gatling guns. I feel that they weren't used enough to be included.

Thank you, I know the actual uniform of the 69th at Manassas, but I dont like it so much. Basicly, I always put my personel taste into the uniforms, compared to historical accuracy. So if they look cool but are somehow historical based, I keep it like that. Thats why the 69th have the NY shell jacket at the moment.
This might be changed in other updates of course.

BUT: The 69th is the only unit, which is somehow not historical accurate for manassas

this is great to hear and i for one look forward to this

I also agree  with the other poster above about gatlin guns and repeaters, nice to see some quality posts.

What a whiner..QQ more or lrn2play. Seriously, revolvers are fine! I take them out with ease, flank them, strafe left and right and attack, so damn simple. This is not NW, keep North and South different and fun(it is a blast in its current state even in alpha). Do not nerf the revolvers.

  • Remove some hairs (pigtails especially)
  • after 1863 (ep.3?) will be nice to have possiblity to choose afro american skin (chance to restrict it only for CSA ?  and head model for privates of US black regiments)

If you don't mind my suggestion for a regiment, I would like to, once again, suggest a Georgia regiment. The Eighth in particular, because it took the most casualties of all present at Manassas, and still stood their ground. (To the point where they ignored orders to retreat, despite their losses.)
