There's no terrain border with flat terrain. You will have to make one yourself.
Alternatively you can make it either:
- sea_outer_terrain_2 - that has water all around, or
- outer_terrain_ocean - that has nothing (emptiness) all around.

I know, these are many screenshots, but i just couldn't withhold some of the details from you. :]
Hoping for comments and your opinions!

Greetings, Corran!
Very nice, would you be okay if I could use this in my mod? I may expand on it a little bit but you have done all the hard work

D' you speak of the "New Elgante" mod?
I would be pleased, if you could use the map. I am aware that very many great maps are doomed to moulder and never be played!
Should I send you the sco file and terrain details?

You can delete them completedly.

For example, the tavern scenes have no outer terrain.

scn_town_1_room town_1_room 1 viking_interior_tavern_a bo_viking_interior_tavern_a -100.000000 -100.000000 100.000000 100.000000 -100.000000 0

Just remove the outer terrain name thing and replace with a zero. Should work.
in the scenes.txt? 'cause i tried it and didnt change anything. I am sure that i changed the "outer_terrain_plains" to "0" of the right scene. There are still some hills outside the scene borders though.
Anyone has other suggestions?
If youre editing Europe 1200, the scenes all have atleast two versions. Try finding the other one too, making sure its the right one. Im relatively sure it would work.

it worked! you were right here! I'm sorry i did not know there were 2 versions, so i changed the other one to "0". Now the hills are gone, and it is as if the outer terrain was "sea_outer_terrain_2" but instead of water, there isnt anything, there is sky.

It looks way better like this, thanks to you Temuzu and Adorno
I'll update screens eventually of Paris

Some old photos of my new map.

mb5.jpg

Made a lot of changes to this portion of the map.

mb6.jpg

Back of the map. I think the moat and pine trees makes a nice touch.

mb4.jpg

Spent 30 minutes trying to rotate my first ever hinge. Basically a door that opens upward.

Aha Coran where did those ships come from?

Ahm, I do not really understand your Question, i think...

If you mean, you've never seen those kind of ships in M&B before: Me neither. They don't seem to appear in any scene of the orginial, native game. But they are in the Editor, and i thought they might look better then the old viking boats.

The other explanation would be: The one at the pier came downstream from another town and the other returns from a profitable mercantile expedition.

Yes that's exactly what I need, thanks for your help

Ok, here's my opinion:
This is a siege map, isn't it? So is the small sally door to the town the only entrance? Or are there some ladders, cause i see none. I believe, sieges with only one entrance are not so much fun to play, so I guess you could add some other ways in.
I don't really like the straightness of the town's houses. Too less plants or stuff in the streets round the houses, it seems a bit unrealistic to me. But you sayd that you chanced this part of the map anyway.
I like the moat, too! The backside view of the castle is extraordinary.
I like that you posted your screenshots in one spoiler, i hate having to click a spoilerbutton for every single picture

I hope you are now satisfied
Greetings, Corran.

AYe, those photos are old. There's a lot more detail now and at least one siege tower and a ladder. It plays pretty well too.

It's been played? That I didn't know.

But yes, the sally door and it's wall is removed, and in fact I've added a lot of detail in the town. I've even removed one house to make a small fenced-in square of irrigated crops. I've made a small moat that cuts across the front of the castle so that the drawbridge makes sense. If somebody can do the honor of posting some screenies up (I can't because I'm on vacation), I could show you a lot more. The keep has an indoors to it, thanks to Madoc's Native compatible mod (portal doors as we call them).

Sounds good. I like those portal doors, we have em on some of my clan's maps, too. (e.g. accessible hold on ships.)

sorry how do I lower terrain? what is the radius and all that?
If you look at the Terrain tab in the Edit Mode program, you will find 4 bubbles you can click on to enable (Rise, Lower, Smooth, and Level). Click the bubble next to word "Lower" and you will be able to lower terrain. To lower terrain, left click your mouse on the map and you will start seeing the terrain fall. Above the four bubbles you should see a slider that represents the radius size. Slide it to how big or little you want your radius to be.
