Nobody moves on the battlefield. Bad AI?

I'm not sure which aspect of the modpack this would be part of, but I just installed 2.5 expanded recently, and large scale battles between lords(100+ on each side) have become staredowns.  Nobody on either side moves or does anything except shoot.  Literally.  People won't even turn around if you stab them in the back.

I have the special AI turned on, with Native AI+Formations, and the only thing I've modified was the font size.

No...  They're still just sitting there waiting for nothing,  I've been noticing that this happens with the Saranids and Khergit.

They just choose to hold position.
Quite annoying when your fighting with other AI and they all choose to hold position.

I think there looking into it.

You can try to lure some of your enemy out of their position but be careful as they might kill you. This is a tricky problem to overcome.

Aye, looking to find an intelligent way of preventing both sides from choosing to hold. Will be resolved in the future.

Make both sides advance forward "10 paces" after holding X seconds?

Has anyone found a solution to this problem yet? It's really annoying.

Specifically for me, whenever I preset formations and unit orders prior to battle, and then start with a small number of my units, followed by the rest spawning in, the new groups that spawns in just sit there stuck, not responding to preset orders or real time orders.. Please help..

What are your system specs? The new orders, formations + ai can be rather taxing.

It's a problem that comes when modders add formations and custom AI, I think it's mainly an issue with custom formations. Removing formations usually solves it, if not try putting the battle ai to the lowest setting.

I'm very happy you guys aren't trying to pass this bull**** off as realism as many mods do though. "Hi, the troops don't move...they just circle-line around each other for two hours how do I fix this?" "It's realistic n00b!"

Yeah, realistic my bunghole.

Try fiddling with custom formations and AI, in my experience this props up in mods that have those. It's also mostly common in very large battles, I play with a 1.000 man battle limit and I just can't join npc battles in some mods, I'll sit there all day or have to fight the battle solo, it's bloody dreadful.

Well the circling is actually a native AI, which is mostly problematic, if sb is doing a freelancer run. From what i understand magbastards problem is that the initializing phase of the battle (i.e. folks spawn n go into formation) lags out and some of his troops get stuck and do not comply with the orders given.

Speaking of issues with spawning. Is it possible to mod the game to use more than *one* spawn location? I don't know if you've ever seen 500 cavalry try to spawn into *one* spawn spot on a map but...it's not an easy thing to manage. If you don't quickly learn how to untangle it half your troops will dismount and you wast all the time you should be spending preparing to meet the enemy charge or snag the high ground.

A scener would be able to give you a better answer, but from the very little i know, i would have to say no - or at least not without a grand amount of work. Scenes have a limited number of spawn points that have to be placed and that are used to spawn specific troops or teams. Most battles however are on randomly generated scenes and i dont know how tweakable those are - if at all (since you cant go into them and place anything beforehand - they are created right before battle).

What happens when I put battle AI to low? Will this make the AI act idiotic again? Hmmm.

The hope is that instead of forming up in a line and standing still, they will just charge head over heels with no organication what so ever. While this is not optimal, it is better than having them standing there like idiots.

Wasnt he talking about his own troops though? I.e. the AI troops charging or not charging dont really matter in this regard.

I thought he was referring to the two armies staring each other down bug, when commanded by AI. Different bug I guess, worse variation of the same effect though.

If he has a weak system and is using cabas formations+ai, it may just lag out - this is simply a system problem and before 2.6 there isnt that much we can do. In 2.6 wse allows for a more effective and less taxing code system, which means things should improve further.

I say we cut his head off, I suspect that'll solve the issue.
