Hello everyone,

I've been a long time lurker on the forums and have decided to dab a little into the modding scene.  I made alterations to native so that that there are no longer any horses on the main units, lords still have them and you can still have one if you choose to.  Also there are no longer any ranged weapons.

The main focus of the mod is to make pretty much everything melee combat on foot.  As such I have created a whole new troop tree.  The troop tree is:

Recruit ---->Light Footman---->Blunt Footman---->Mace Wielder/Pick Wielder-----> Veteran Mace/ Veteran Pick----> Hammermen/Armour Piercers

                Light Fottman----->Light Cutter----->Swordman/Axeman----->Veteran Swordman/ Veteran Axeman----->Scimitar Specialist/ Ravager*
*fixed

All of the troops above are one handed with a shield, there name is pretty indicative as I am not very original in that department.  Also you can switch between sword and axemen and mace and pickmen when you upgrade.  I know it's not very realistic and may be changed in a later version if I decide to continue more modding.

All of the new troops were quickly done so many of them look the same and I have only used items from native so far.

You can only get recruits from villages so you are unable to get any faction troops through recruiting from villages.  Factions still consist of their normal units right now but without horses or any ranged weapons.  This of course will have unbalanced the game and I may make an effort to balance the factions if I do continue this mod.

I really enjoy foot combat in M&B and was getting tired of facing archers and horsemen all the time so I decided to remove them and make my own little group of units.  So after a couple nights of on and off modding this is my product.  I haven't played it much and assume that IT IS NOT BALANCED.  I do not think there are bugs in the game, there may be a few spelling errors.  Also I be aware that the LORDS ARE STILL MOUNTED and you are still able to buy horses and ranged weapons.  If you truly want to play melee only that is your choice.

Do not expect this mod to be that good as it was thrown together by a first time modder very quickly.

Installation is the same as many other mods simply use winRar or some kind of extractor and extract to your module folder.

Screenshots of new units are welcome, as well as comments and questions.

Please do not be too harsh to judge the mod.

Update:

New starting class --- Bezerker

Even though the mod doesn't seem to have gotten much of a response on the forums I'm still getting into modding and may become addicted.  With luck this could turn out to be a decent mod.  As my continued knowledge on how to do things grows I may be able to implement new items etc to make the mod much more interesting.

Future Plans:

Add new weapons and armour.

Make troops more diverse in the way they are equipped. *Somewhat started

Change Faction troops to new troop tree OR try to balance factions
--->Would have to decide what each faction would consist of (Polearms, one handers or Twohanders or a mix of two)

Add more starting classes. *Done may add more later and maybe tweak the stats for each one

All new starting classes, Man-at-arms, Pikeman, Heavy Infantry, Bezerker, Strange Warrior

Changed some equipment of troops, gave Bezerkers huge health boost so they don't die easy (may be a little too good now)

Testing whether archers with blunt bows (won't kill your troops) should be implemented-->Vaegir troops should have these archers

New bandit troops-- Strange Warriors--Will try to implement hiring them if you start as one or just in general

New Quick battle--Showcases Strange Warriors, Bezerkers and two handed elite units Decapitator and Swordmaster

Again any suggestions/comments etc are welcome!

thats your opinion mine however is that if it is done right then it could turn out quite well...

i like the fact that only the lords can have mounts.....

maybe you actually have a few archers just make them extremely crap and only there to annoy the swordsman without shields

I recommend getting the battle size changer for anyone who plays this mod, especially since the new quick battle has over 100 combatants.

New Quick battle--Showcases Strange Warriors, Bezerkers and two handed elite units Decapitator and Swordmaster
----> I've only played the quick battle a few times, it uses the scene of one of the native ones as it's more of a testing grounds for me and a way to showoff new units.
      the player side has the Strange Warriors but they seem to be beaten by the Bezerkers most times. 

Tip: Your units start out all over the place have them follow you so there is some sort of order to the battle.

Anyone willing to test the mod and give light on what should be done balance wise for the new troops (bezerkers and strange warriors) please share your opinion.
Also if people like the new archers I may implement them into the other factions and make them somehow hireable.

Updates will probably keep coming as I think I'm slightly addicted to modding.  Anyone who enjoys the mod feel free to suggest what you would like implemented and I'll see if it fits with what I want to do.

that is great. i am desperately searching how to play the single player without any cavalry inthe armies mine and my enemies.....plz!tlle how you did this.what do i have to chnge in the files??
 
I'm afraid the OP (original poster) hasn't been active since August of this year, so I doubt he will see your post and be able to help you.
 
do you know how can i play without cavalry troops??if you dont. do you know anyone who could tell me how??

Removing all ranged weapons and horses would be rather tedious to do, as you'd have to remove *every* reference to those items, making sure that no troops at all try to spawn with weapons that are no longer there, etc.. And then there's major balancing issues; if you simply remove the bow and horse from a khergit horse archer then you get a really weak footman indeed. It's quite a lot of hassle, really.
