yeah WB is the official release we payed 30$ for a beta, Taleworlds is taking a page right out of the mmo market.

Now after that rant, i do wonder if the original m&b will recieve support or did we really just pay to develop warband so we could pay again. (please tell me its not the Empire/Napolean total war fiasco all over again)

You paid 30$ for the normal mount and blade, now you are paying 30$ for a whole new game with some old MnB stuff

Yes, yes it is.

Original M&B is the past. Warband is the future. Vanilla M&B purchasers have received all the love they're probably going to get. The way patches are getting cranked out for Warband, it'll be a long time before there's thought about taking up resources with more original M&B work. Get comfy with original M&B + mods / no M&B at all, or smile and fork over $30 lousy bucks for Warband.

Happy?

How about...No?  People could still want original M&B...ya know that there's a million mods that make it worth playing?

so if activision realeased the new modern warfare 2 map pack and fixed all the glitches and said you dont need modern warfare 2 to run it and that there dropping support for mw2 that would be ok?

Was multiplayer and way better graphics.

yes and so was a promise of free content,

Well....with every other Game that comes out you mostly get 12h playfun for 50$.....and then never play it again.

I think M&B gives you more than 12h fun. So it was a good deal.

Now its time for M&B Warband and i really think we get another long time of Fun and Support/Mods for 30$.
And finally Multiplayer that makes great fun. Atleast to me.

standalone expanisons are fine this is not a standalone its a sequel being marketed as a standalone to confuse people into buying the original, an expansion implies that your getting something out of the original!

the three types of expansions are:
a.) the gta series is a perfect example, San andreas is based off the gta4 engine and it adds new things but it was also marketed as a seperate game.
B) .Where as company of heroes, if you bought opposing fronts you could use all the opposing front features, however the vanilla coh **** would be locked to you.
C.) now comes a normal expansion like broodwar for starcraft which added new content but needed the original to play

this is a type a expansion being marketed as a type b so taleworlds can trick people into money
thank you for feeding my troll. i understand what warband is i do however think there marketing is a lil messed up. im just mad that i dont get paid again for another week lol im looking for a good polished mod for vanilla btw thx for playing along

IDK what you 2 are even fighting about. No one is happy, no one is satisfied. Everyone is disappointed whether you want to show it or not. All we can do now is pay the $30 bucks and trust that Taleworlds and Paradox will pay us back in interest. Every forum I open has rude as **** people. I'm sick of all the fanboys flogging everyone down. OFCOURSE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO QUESTION WHY THEY PAID FOR A BETA. You aren't as upset about it than they are because you know things about warband that THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T. If you want to help, then give them the details and help. If your going to flog them, then your no better than they are, and equally as annoying, if not more. I started my first posts with confusion and disappointment because I didn't get at all what i expected, and i got flogged. Eventually less rude people explained to me what was going on, which makes things all the more bearable. We are all in the same community, we will be sharing mods with each other, we will be playing with each other, we will be supporting each other, why can't we show a bit more respect about it?

If they announced up front that it was a standalone expansion, then yes, nothing at all wrong with it. It's the individual's choice whether or not to spend the money and get on board.

To answer Timohept, I'm all for being respectful and welcoming. It's just that we aren't treading new ground anymore. "Newcomers" have a significant portion of the forums covered in threads about "I found a bug I'm so confused what's up with Warband?" There comes a point when folks get tired of having to play whack-a-mole with every new post about it.

Taleworlds has a very generous demo, and a relatively low price point. And I don't think they have ever been dishonest about what Warband is. Here's the first three questions from the FAQ right on the front page of the site.
Q What is Mount&Blade Warband?
A Mount&Blade Warband is the sequel to the highly acclaimed medieval mounted combat game Mount and Blade.

Q Does Mount&Blade Warband require the original Mount&Blade to be installed?
A No. Mount&Blade Warband is a fully self contained game that does not require the original Mount&Blade game to be installed.

Q Does Mount & Blade have a free trial download?
A Yes there is a demo for the original Mount & Blade. Click here to download the game from our Downloads section.

If after all that someone is unhappy with what they end up with, the responsibility for that does not all fall on Taleworlds.

You really ask this?
You compare apples with pears.

Modern Warface 2 has Multiplayer.

M&B not.

So whats your point?

did you not fully read my post this is all proving a point for a thesis ill be writing thank you very much and sorry for deciving you

This is a "standalone expansion". It's not a sequel. It may be being MARKETED as a sequel, but claiming my foot is a hand doesn't make it true.

It's similar to the Empire: Total War and Napoleon: Total War. Same engine, same game, just updated. Napoleon was marketed as a standalone expansion, when it reality it did the same things to Empire as Warband does to Vanilla.

I paid 30 bucks for WB, which is pretty standard for an expansion. I don't regret it. Especially once the module system comes out and the mods start rolling in, which as we all know was the best part of vanilla M&B.
