History Of The Regiment
On July 26 1757, at the battle of Hastenbeck, the regiment was part of the first line of the right wing under the command of general Block. The unit fought along side battalions from Knesebeck (No. 3A), Scheither (No. 1A), Diepenbroick (No. 8A), Druchtleben (No. 3B) and Stolzenberg (No. 4B), as well as, two cavalry squadrons from the Dachenhausen Dragoons (No. 5C) and Breidenbach Horse (No. 1A) respectively.
On May 26 1758, the regiment was with the corps of the prince von Anhalt in the camp of Coesfeld. On May 31, this corps accompanied Ferdinand of Brunswick in his offensive on the west bank of the Rhine. On June 23, the regiment took part to the battle of Krefeld where it was deployed on the right wing brigaded along with battalions from Bock (No. 4A), Block (No. 8B), Spörken (No. 2A) and Prinz Karl (Hessian) under the command of the Erbprinz (hereditary prince) of Brunswick. On October 10 at Lutterberg, the regiment was brigaded with von Oberg regiment under major-general Post. It fought in the first line of the centre.
On April 13 1759, at the battle of Bergen, the regiment was stationed on the left wing of the Anglo-Allied army, along with Marschalk (No. 10B), Fersen (No. 13A), and the Hessian regiment Kanitz, commanded by Prinz Isenburg. After repeated attempts to storm the village, Bergen, the Hanoverian and Hessian troops withdrew. Prinz Isenburg, who had been a rallying point for Hessian resistance against the French, fell leading the repeated assaults up a steep slope against the abattis situated around the village. The French units in Bergen were strengthened by a reserve formed from the regiments Piémont (No.4), Alsace (No. 36), Rohan-Montbazon (No. 32), Royal-Roussillon (No. 37), Beauvoisis (No.41) and the Royal Deux-Ponts (No. 92). These reserves blunted the repeated attacks until the Anglo-Allied army withdrew.
In July 1760, at the batlle of Warburg, the regiment was deployed on the right flank along with battalions from Scheither (No. 1A), Estorff (No. 12B), Block (No. 8B), Monroy (No. 10B), 87th Foot (Keith's Highlanders) and the Légion Britannique. The right flank was under the command of lieutenant-general Hardenberg.
In July 1761, at the battle of Vellinghausen, the regiment was part of the reserve.
