I play Battle mode servers exclusively. However, last night, none of my favorite servers had anyone playing. I noticed that the nK Duel server had about 25 people, though, so I figured I'd try it out. I had a great time. I am going to be frequenting the server from now on. Totally different experience from Battle, but totally awesome. I love that the combat in this game is complex enough that you can observe two players fighting and get a feel for their fighting style and then use that knowledge to your advantage when you face the winner.

I hope someone is designing a mod specifically for dueling. Something that would allow any weapon in the game to be purchased and prohibit armor and horses. Everyone would be the same exact class and maybe people could be given more options for plain clothing to help differentiate themselves. If no one is, I think I'll have to start looking into it myself. I have no experience with modding Mount & Blade, though.

As for a duel mod, we don't have any stats or weapons/armour changed but you could look into our training mod.

It features 3 custom maps made for dueling made by Blak, CtrlAltDe1337, and Scipio. Last I heard, they were thinking about changing the weapons and such around.
 
We're glad you had fun.  As Freebird already said, we have a mod with some custom maps.  They have dedicated areas for each kind of class.  We will be adding trainer weapons soon (low damage so you can practice block, chambering, etc).  But if you don't want to fight a guy with armor, just don't accept the duel.  Some people prefer a heavily armored duel since it makes the fight last longer.

I agree but as I understood it the rules on nK said no armor. I understand no horses because people get killed and then the horses rampage around the map, but armor doesn't interfere with anyone who doesn't want to deal with it so I'm not sure why it isn't allowed. I can't complain, though, the server is great. Runs smooth as butter even with tons of people on it and everyone who wasn't a total griefer (these guys were booted fast) was totally polite.

Have you guys thought about having tournaments or something like that?
 
Seems to be the problem... either its open for everyone to play and you need constant policing, or you put the training mod up and there are always 0 players on it :sad: 

I think a big next step for the multiplayer is to have native allow new maps and modifications to item/class availability without needing to get a new mod, leave the more drastic changes to something you need to download to join.

Anyway nice strong connection to the jest servers and you guys when you have time do an amazing job admining it and are quite fair to people, good place to duel (when admin is on :wink: )

Yeah that is an issue.  If you could download mods off the server browser ingame, that might help the problem.
 
just been on the server too, it's been quite a game.

actually the griefers where kind of fun, you needed to have both eyes open when duelling. it was also nice how duellers interrupted the fight for a second to kill a passing rider together then presented their weapons again and fought on.

ps.: been quite a pleasure to fight you sock monkeh, the few times i had the better luck were always a real achievement.

Trust me, it was never luck. Every time you killed me you earned it.
 
To be fair, the server doesn't suck, it's the common people who play there. When ever someone joins and starts to kill everyone without warning, without asking, with a bow, they don't do anything. I was the only one starting a vote ban on them.
 
Those are some pretty harsh accusations.  What time did this happen on?  If an admin checks the logs and this is true, rest assured that all Bks members will be banned from nK servers and I will put out a word to other admins.  But I hope this isn't just a smear attempt.
 
I can, unfortunately.  At least some of them.  I hope it isn't true.  I've contacted some admins that can access logs so we will try to get to the bottom of this soon.

Yeah I'm getting to the point where if I see any BkS Tag and they do 1 little thing, I'll ban them. I'm sick of thier "hey I'm a badass, give me your lunch money" attitude then they blame others for acting with rudeness...

Also I'm glad you guys like our server, however I do apologize for not having admins on all the time to kick those that do not follow the rules.
 
It could have also been impostors, so we shouldn't jump to conclusions unless you have the log data fully reviewed.

There was another BkS guy on, but he didn't do anything.
 
If Artyem is Don_Vesuvius, he's banned for crazy trolling. I'd rather take BkS's word over his after looking at the logs.
