Night battles, a question

Hi,
Sorry if this has been mentioned before, I have a question concerning night battles, how do I get all the trees to become dark? because while the whole area is very dark, some trees keep their 'light' as if it was day time.

and may I suggest a little bit less dark nights, I can't even get to see my soldiers lol

I remember someone saying something about a mod where units have torches instead of shields during nights battles, might be an interesting thing to add.

Try to distract your enemies with Peasant Rebels, or if you feel more evil, spam some recruiters around your besieged city Kuauik. Frankly enough, it does work for me.

alright thanks for the replies,
one quick question before closing this thread, (which can be closed), lol.

what does 'turn DMOD on/off' means?

Thank You Lucho coz I just wanna ask the same:D

What is this DMOD option...?

About the night battles:
I think battles at night look awsome! Its obvious thats is dark as $#!T but that just what it used to be those times.
The torches idea is very good but I dont think its a good idea changing shields to torches...maybe some other solution could be possible like- shield+torch in one hand or something like that...dunno if its possible...shield +torch...when we have shield in hand not on it.

These dark nights where you cant see anything arent intended imo. I had an ATI Card and with it i had dark nights, but you could see the enemies quite good. Now, i bought a modern (NVIDIA) Card to upgrade my hardware (as it was lagging like hell) and the nights are *so* dark that you can barely see yourself. I really only can guess whats happening around me...

It could be that this is linked to some quality setting which i turned on max. since the hardware change, or it simply is driver related, as i had an ATI driver before...

Anyway, if someone knows a fix for this i would be thankful (sorry for hijacking the thread, but didnt want to start a new one)

BTW: changing the gamma in the graphic options ingame doesnt seem to do anything...

same here... with nVidia it's literally unplayable during nights in a hill terrain - you don't know where are you going and even if you're going anywhere... and Polished Landscapes aren't making the fight any easier - do you know how hard it is to go around a tree which you can not see at all?

adjusting gamma doesn't work. it only makes the darkness lighter but the contrast stays the same.

this would indeed be amust add-on!

i hate night battles ,i cant see ****,also the besiegers have strange habit to attack at night
Yeah I've noticed this too. It happened more than once, actually it was always during nights.

I can't se **** me neither during night fights, not even myself...that's fun and annoying at the same time lol. It adds some challenges.

I have an ATI card, and the nights are pretty much pitch black. If I ever get into a battle after dusk, I immediately quit and reload to avoid it. I can't see the enemy, the terrain or even myself. Otherwise I have to rely on the AI troops and their built-in night vision to win the fight for me.

This.

I could understand if the AI had the same penalties, but they clearly don't. Even then, I think it's unreasonable to think that two armies would ever attack each other (i.e. two fully formed battle lines as we always start in the game) under such conditions. Any advantage of surprise would be lost as men stumble around slashing at friends and bumping into trees. Pointless.

Add a little fog using the cheatmenu, it helps with the night situation, you can see more. I am not sure as to how much fog should there be.

ctrl + ~ to bring the console box up
type in the box "cheatmenu"
in the camp tab, choose "CHEAT MENU", then "change weather"
disable cheat menu by bringing up the console box then typing in "nocheatmenu"

I can't see anything at night in battle scenes so I avoid them or modify the gamma setting :)

AI battles are halted at night, I guess I could restrict the AI from attacking the player at night and vice versa but I'm not sure if that's worth doing.

Oh please do, if it isn't a huge hassle. And if possible, extend it to all brigands, bandits and other hostile units as well.
As long as they don't attack between dusk and morning, that would be faaaantastic  :D

I like the night battles, the feel is realy awesome and realistic, and trees didn't ever disturb my battles during the night. The visibility should be reduced, and it is!

I wouldn't change the AI behaviour to stop them from attacking during night.

First of all, night battles are hard, yes. But realistically, night battles would be really difficult. (This can be easily tested by going outside during night somewhere on the countryside and you won't see ****. Just imagine fighting in that pitch darkness, it will be freaking difficult.) Compared to reality, night battles are already much easier.

Then, if AI wouldn't attack during night, it would allow the player to cross enemy territory during night unchallenged. I don't think, this would be a good addition to the game.

Finally, not much beats the realism of a castle siege during night, when the arrows just fly at you out of nowhere. :D
i doubt that the real army would hastle with the whole destiny of its nation and fight the battle at night without any possibility of controling whats goin on
