Knight at Arms
All the factions are great, the way firearms are implemented is great, but what's with the ridiculously low character stats at the start of the game? They're so poor, I get massacred in the arena by friggin' novice fighters! In Native I start with PS 3 and Athl. 4...
 
Well, as you know the new character creation is different, perhaps you chose a setup that is not designed for foot melee?

I chose exactly the one that is designed for foot melee. STR 8  and AGI 10(after dumping all the starting attribute points in AGI) seems unrealistically low for such a char(on top of the violent history of a Vaegir in this mod)

I just noticed Vaegir footmen have better stats than my char...

Also, weapons are overpowered. It's ok for firearms, but when a looter downs a footman with a single rock, something is wrong...

recruitment rates are nice, though.

This game took me a while to grasp, which is why I like it. In most mods you're able to sit with you're troops and chop up the enemy. This is not the same, because this mod plays more like an RTS than a blood orgy. The trick is to either sit behind your troops and enter only to pick off what's left, or to get onto the highest hill possible without obscuring your view and ordering your troops around. Even with the best armor and a heavy charger (I am a tank with a hand cannon) I still get couched lanced by those damn Swadian Demilancers.
 
that's ok, but still, a single rock thrown by a looter taking down somebody? that's simply ridiculous. Starting to like the mod myself, though. Especially the fact that the Vaegir Strelets is only the 3rd tier :twisted:

They're uhh...special rocks?  :oops:

That could have been an incredibly lucky shot. You know, the ones where you deal critical damage, and it's a headshot. I've never had this problem. If it does *really* become a problem, simply keep your troops loose by putting them into a line, and pressing F9 a few times.

1. Thats because you're just started. The footmen at least have some experience of battle.
2. I've never, ever seen that happen.
3. So they are.

why don't you go read the texts you get when you're choosing character background? They way they sound, the player character should be a moderately good fighter when the game is started. Instead, the 'son of a hunter who grew up to become a skirmisher' starts with archery at 64...

He's supposed to be entering adulthood by the time the game is started. Hence supposed to have better fighting skills than '****e', especially considering his violent life until that point.

Never seen that before. But i supposed it's true. A tiny pebble that slips through your visor in real life can be the end for your face :razz:

maybe tell D' about it, maybe he'll listen to you on how more realism he can put in :razz:
 
heh, I've been taken down by rocks before. I was riding towards some recruits and 30 rocks pop out of nowhere, 20+ hit ( they were using hax I swear) and I impacted the ground.
 
ok, the low starting stats are really a problem. At lvl 10 I had Athl at only 4 and got beaten a lot simply because I couldn't run fast enough. Had to delete my first char...

Heroes are the best thing to abuse. They don't have to be meat grinders, you can make Arteminner totally useless in battle but have 10s in all the medical/siege skills.

You can use deshavi (I think it's deshavi...) for spotting, thereby increasing your party speed. If that doesn't do it for you, guess it's time to head into Ormeli territory to raise a horseman army.
