JEAZH!!! it's finaly here(well not really, in autumn). I cannot wait to get my hands on it!
I can finaly kick some "real" swadian butt!

id love to see a multi player campaign. maybe max it out at 2 human players per faction. have it persistent so its always running, players would have to host their own servers.

As for death match/team death match id love to see it run similar to how the tournaments are run. 32 players broken down into teams, that get smaller and smaller till one on one fights. maybe end up with a 1 on 1 jousting match.

You know what would be cool (I think)?

If there would be a system like in Call of Duty 4 (don't worry - in fact I hat the game  :???: ) with achievements: the more enemies you kill or the more goals you reach (whatever this would be, kind of capture the flag or king of the hill) the better quiptment and stats you got. Simply give XP and denars for each killed player regarding to his own level and euipment, and so you can buy bit by bit your first class equipment. (You don't lose XP or euqipment by being killed, so it hast to be balanced very well)

So if you see on the MP-server your enemies forming a line, most of them with chainmail, guard helmet and nordic sword, and between them a guy with 2-handed sword, full plate armour and winged helmet, you know: this is a real badass, stay away from him!

Everybody has his own "inventory" where he can choose the proper armour/weaponry for the game mode, and play with ragged leather on level 40 if he is funny and wants that

Perhaps making "presets", e.g. a courser, bow and lot of arrows for open fielded battle, shield, axe and heaviest armour for siege attacks or crossbow, bolts and poleaxe for siege defend.

And as I already mentioned, some different MP-modes like capture the flag, king of the hill, search and destroy or whatever could be implemented.

that's really easily exploitable you know. There would have to be mods watching if someone isn't giving up fights with and alt char or a friend to get better equipment.

This is brilliant news, I can just imagine the forum tournaments (as if this place wasn't fractious enough already).
Plus it's good to hear that this addition will be 'modding friendly'.
EDIT: New Ganbat material?

Of course this is. In CoD4 it's probably done regularly. I think this should be balanced very well. I had in mind that leveling to lvl30 would take you half a year or even a whole year of regularly playing mulitplayer. (regularly = one or two hours five days a week)

If you would divide the common XP earned in SP with 10 you should have the amount of XP one earns in MP. But XP needed to level stay same. (Or are multiplicated with 10, as you want  ). Each killed enemy would give about 5-10 XP and about 1-5 Denars. Buying a plate armour would need insane amounts of killed enemies.

And with 5-10 XP per kill even a dozen friends would need REALLY long to let kill each other to reach some effect.

I am not that enthusiastic about a multiplayer module to Mount & Blade. Yes, it is nice and from a commercial point of view a sound decision but I expected something more evolved...

I would love to see more immersion in the single player campaign. More options, more roleplay, more depth. Random hero generation, lords that die, that can get poisoned, smugglers, complex political plots among the factions, within each faction, more factions, some of them countries other different entities...

Oh well, maybe for 2010...

WHOOOOOOOO!!!
We need to organize a beef settling thread. Whoopin has some reputation to defend.
Also, where's the announcement from Armagan? We get shafted on the news again?

Nonononono, no levels in multiplayer games. They only turn it into a 'Who's willing to waste most time' competition.
The only way I could accept levels would be if you had to start from the bottom once you die or leave the server. And you would die often.

I think it would be really cool if all players could control a small band of AI soldiers. The engine can easily support over 100 soldiers on screen at once, so all players could have 5 AI soldiers with them.

but he's got a point, Mount and Blade Multiplayer is a totaly unexplored new kind of world, its nothing like we've ever played b4, it would b like Battlefield/COD but without guns. It would b nice to have a large variet of different game styles.

as i stated zombie apocalypse- where ppl have to survive as long as possible  against infinately respawning horde of zombies
king of the hill
Dm n TDM
Xtreme horse races- 4 teams with 3 ppl on each team, they have to reach from point A to B first  and have to try to slow down (or stop) the enemy team(and get there first°, the three first ppl to cross the line (or go around teh arena X amount of times) get points: 1st=10 2nd=5 3rd=3, and there would b like 3 matches b4 it is decided wich team wins ). Could b done in open area or in those roman arenas...(the ones where they did chariot racings can't remember the names)
Storm the castle
Defend the castle
CTF
Farmer run- This consists of a large mass of farmers, a few human players, and their job is to kill or knock as many farmers unconsious in X amount of time. The one with most Kill/Knocks wins (Kill could b 2 points, Knock 1 point?)
Oddball?/ Holy Staff-Two teams, There is a map, they spawn at oposite sides, i the middle of the map there is a holy staff. The team to hold this staff longest during X amount of time wins. Rules-If u grab the staff, u cannot hit anyone. If someone !hits! staff bearer, bearer drops staff and  then the staff is for the taking .

....
These r just a few ideas for the modmakers out there and for the ppl who r actually making the MP. I would like to hear what other ppl would like to play on multiplayer

Interesting... will we still be able to mod for it? Imagine TLD multiplayer or TEARC..

Now all the mods are going to halt and wait for the expansion

But really...

wooooo.

Although the thing that interests me most is new strategic AI

But it's a ****ing expansion! Excelent!

Brilliant news. TPW multiplayer could possibly be the best thing to hit this Earth, ever. Fully functional phalanx's and that, it'd be amazing. Still though, 16 v 16 Swadians v Rhodoks will be class.

mhm, I don't know. Mods would be great, but somehow I'm not sure Paradox wants to keep mods for the mp..

Bugger. But let us dream! Just think about the near unlimited possibilities! Then later we can hurl abuse at Paradox.

As long as they don't stop us modifiying the singleplayer parts though..

If it's team deathmatch, and if it's anything like singleplayer this could be the first game every where the team using formations and not running around like maniacs win..

I don't think that this would be such a great problem - your progress isn't depending on your spent time but on your gaming success. And even with a short rusty spear from a swaybacked sumpter horse rode by a lvl 5 player a lvl 30 knight can get knocked out (if it's couched).

You have to kill people in battle to advance, and you would do this anyway, regardless if you get awarded by XP and denars or not. But the system of a leveling character would increase long time motivation. On the other hand it mustn't be so influtential to dominate the game or being easily manipulated.

One reason why M&B is so successful is that the right timing and circumstances ALWAYS are far more important than simple stats. That's what makes M&B unique and completely different to other RPG games. (Okay, only exception is shooting with bows and from horses, this is totally skill-based, but for a good reason)

Wow. I first overlooked the topic because I thought it would be someone asking for news on multiplayer once again.

Being an expansion, it surely won't be free for those who have already bought a key?
