Well, the fact that past versions have been unplayable for many players might have something to do with it. A stable and functionable Brytenwalda is all we want and the new features added simply sweeten the deal.
I don't mean to sound impatient in asking this question, but I don't think I've seen an answer and this seems like a good enough time to ask.
You mentioned 1.40 will be the final version and it'll be out not long after 1.39, I'm wondering if that's just a pre-planned bug fixing patch only or if there are still more features you will be adding.
I don't know if I'll have the discipline to hold off playing 1.39 until 1.40 is out personally, even though that's what I'd prefer to do just to make sure it's the final version and everything is in working order and there won't be save game compatibility issues... but then again, that's probably a long ways from today..... and today we will have a miracle.
1.40 will mainly be fixing bugs. It's too early to say when it will be released, and also whether it will be save game compatible.
(We certainly hope so, but it depends on whether any bugfixes require it.)
You should not wait for 1.40.
