Newbiw need tips

Talking to guildmasters and building enterprises is a great source of gold. Companions are the best troops you can find, and if you're new, try recruiting to a faction for general safety. Avoid undead until you have a sizeable force. Put points into leadership. Cannons are superpowered. In xeno you must trust.

start as sergeant, go to village and have them give stuff to you, since you are in like 3 people they will revolt. you and your pals got nice armor so you won't have problem kicking the villager's ass, then you will proceed to loot and have enough money to buy a couple of enterprises. after that is just matter of time, once you bought an activity in every town start assembling the army

and you piss off a lord who will hunt you down......
thats quite dumb flare.

since you did not say WHAT you are starting as the basic tips apply (i'm assuming your playing on max difficulty)

#1 as Hallergra said the enterprises are a great source of gold, in the late game they are what keeps you alive
#2 the bandits in Veigers and Swadia are the easiest to kill, avoid Rhodock bandits until you have a sizable force of heavy infantry.
#3 bigger is not always better, in the early game when you can't really fight everything on the map consider a smaller force that can outrun most parties, continue this until you have a companion who has 4-6 path finding skill.
#4 while on the battlefield you can hold f1 to issue remote "hold this position" commands, this allows you to move troops without actually having to go there
#5 don't be a hero all the time, your not an allmightly thundergod in this mod
most of the time
you have an army to kill people for you.

steffs videos in the "videos updated XX/XX/XXXX" thread are VERY useful combat how-to's

no he won't because you will still be neutral vs faction, the only problem might be bandints roaming around, raiding villages is the first thing i do every new game, a couple of raids and i don't need to fight ever again until the first siege whilst leading top tier mercs

HOW TO DO THIS JAMES STYLETM:

Class: Mercenary archer

Army: I recommend building a Napoleonic style army, with 1/2-3/4 ranged infantry [grenadiers, hell yeah] including cannons, with the other half/fourth being Vaegir pikemen or Swadian Halberdiers. Then you have a ranged force capable of taking on obliterating murdering crushing annihilating small armies, with the Pikemen/Halberdiers if deployed correctly protecting you from cavalry, or any enemy who happens to get too close.

Motto of my grenadiers: "FEAR NO RHULG DESTROYER" (Your ranged forces will most certainly rip them to shreds )

Goal:
DESTROY EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(just kidding)

Strategy: Depending on your play style, I would reccomend hitting Sarranid or Khergit villages along their border with the Rhodoks. Seeing as the Khergits tend to just slaughter everything in their path late game [due to the way that factions lose battles that if it was actually being fought in-game would be won easily] they kind of need to hit more problems early on, you know. Raiding caravans is a must. For your first castle I would reccomend the area around Uxkhal, as you're in a nice position between the Rhodoks and Swadians allowing you some nice strategic adventages.

Trade: I haven't played in a while so I forget the specifics, but I know that there's lots of profit either buying or selling Iron at Veluca, can't remember which specifically, and selling it at one of two places: A Vaegir city of a Khergit city close to Vaegir territory. Again, can't remember names apart from that.

As far as undead hordes go: Our musketballs will block out the sun.

As far as Mountain rebel parties go: FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-- RUNRUNRUNRUNRUNRUNRUN

As far as Taiga hordes go: Have fun turning them in to mulch and selling their gear.

As far as Sea kings go: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU--, etc.

Hope this helps.

looting a village lowers faction relations, if your factions relations are below -9 and a lord already hates you he will attack you whether you are at war or not

No no no, you read it wrong. You know how in that train the peasants quest if you fail to defend the village it gets looted automatically? If you force peasants to give you supplies, and they resist and you proceed to slaughter them all [which you will unless your army is full of baddies] then instead of just getting the supplies you actually -loot- the village without the decrease in faction reputation.

it is and i did report that
