newbie question (german forum)

Hi!

I'm new to the forums but I'm playing M&B for a time now.
I've noticed that there are forums for other languages than enlish.
Now I asked myself if there are enough german people in the forum so
that it would make sense to start a german forum as well.

If this would be possible it would be easier for the users that aren't so
good in english (like me) to discuss about the game with other german
users that can understand the english threads better.

Your best bet is to PM one of the mods or Armagan and ask them/him if they've had any other similar requests or if they know if there's many other Germans browsing the forums.

IMO, separate language forums aren't necessarily a good thing. This Off-Topic board was a hell of a lot more active before the Finnish/Scandinavian/Russian forums were created. Now it's almost dead by comparison, as most people with those languages spend most of their time in the other forums.

Think of it this way, if there's not enough people to get a separate German-speaking forum going, you could use this opportunity to better your English. You could even listen to me butcher what little German I know. Who knows, maybe I'll do French next too.

Lies! I have 12 posts in the finnish forum, I try to avoid the language specific ones like the plague

And about the german forum. Either find me one of the nicer regulars here that speaks fluent german or stay a while and seem like a nice reasonable guy. (Each language forum needs a moderator and AFAIK none of the current mods speak german)

What exactly is the point of creating language specific forums for people who already are able to read the forums? The language specific forums should be directed first and foremost to people who do not speak english, so that they would still be able to discuss the game with fellow gamers. I would think that this will become more of an issue when armagan finishes the language translation tool thingies that he promised a while back in some thread or another.

So anyways, I'm all for any and all language forums, but they shouldn't act as status symbol for anyone, but rather to attend to the needs of a whole lot of gamers/customers.

question but don't know how to write it so you can understand what i
mean ?

Another possibility would be to make a little "list" or something where
the users can post which languages they understand and then, when
s.o. (e.g. me) doesn't understand something right he knows who he can
ask.

I appear to be misunderstood somewhat. As I said, I'm all for separate language forums, but forming them based on the number of people of the said nationality that currently frequent the forum seems to be a little silly.

Once the translation tools come out, then mayhaps a language forum should be created for every language the game has been translated in, that would make more sense.
