I am loving this game. Does anyone know of a rough time frame for the next version. I am at about day 200 and level 30. I think I have the best of all the armours and stacks of money. I am hoping the next version will increase the number of items, locations, bad guys, missions, types of characters etc.

Now don't take this as a flame. I am still loving the game but would love to expand on my current character.

PS - I'm hoping you will be able to take your characters from this version to the next[/url]

Get ready to be flamed f or asking such a question...

First thing I noticed when I got this game was how anyone was flamed for asking a question, next thing was the unconditional support, and no question asked altitude torwards the devs. Has been way to long without any news regarding an update yet this community takes everything while bending down with a smile most likly because all the high post "forum rats" are well under 15...
Don't get me wrong I love the game but progress sure is slow, it was said well over a month ago that the mod tools would be out within a couple weeks max or end of last month. Now its the middle of August and still nothing and no news, hell the last posted news are well over 4+ months old

Not really sure why they are going the way of making mod tools first either, I rather see some content in-game, perhaps a story line and stuff to do in general rather then ride around the map with no goal....and then give the community tools to add extra content thing is even with the planned tools you will still need to know what you are doing so I kinda question how usefull this whole ordeal will be especially considering just how few skilled coders or modders there seem to be.

Look, just because dr vortex is so kind to call all of us under 15, we'll be as kind as him and just tell you to use the search function, or simply scroll down the page and see that there are already lots of threads on this subject.

Heh see that is just what i mean... Yes sure he could search but that isn't really the point now is it? Besides have you ever actually used a search function within forums??

They suck hard, 90% of the time you will spend an hour+ looking through the 200+ threads that have the word or whatever you searched for in the title. Now yeah I agree would be nice to have more people try to search, however considering how hostile and worked up this community gets when someone asks somethign I would make a point to extra post questions on the forums just so I can see some of you whine and tell me to search and all that. Rofl priceless.

Anyway point stands: The unquestionable support of the community, no questions asked

dear mr vortexdr

may i suggest that you could behave in a more polite manner.
our support for this game is indeed unquestionable. we love this game so we support it. that doesn't mean that we just sit down and await. no we don't flame the devs. instead we make polite suggestions. because you seem to have problems using the search option i will give you a link to help you find them.

http://taleworlds.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewforum.php?f=5

and if you find the quality of the current modders so low than i would like to suggest making a mod of your own in order to show us how a true master of mods goes to work.

kind regards,

pzler

Huh? No you flame the users not the devs which is exactlly what I said in my post...Never claimed you flamed the devs...All I said was that he shoudn't ask when the new version is out since the "fanboys" support is unquestionable even though progress is really slow.

As far as the modders go, main reason that was posted is because the last 3+ months where used developing the modding tools, however the amount of people modding this game sure doesnt make that a priority. In theory first priority should be to get content in-game. As far as my mods well I am a modeler for Ubi so yeah my programming skills probally aren't all that but then again my models own...
As far as having problem with the search?? Ehh i never claim I have problems with the search. Anyay point still stands....

Well if someone asks for an update on the same day he registered he deserves to be flamed.I wonder how it helps the devs to ask them "when is the nextt update?" over and over. And i havent seen any mods flaming someone who critisized the game or the dev team.

Well.....what does it mean if you flame in your first post?!?!?
"vortexdr"
The prosecution rests!
thanks, you made my day..LOL
try the "Pirates of the burning sea" for even more newbie flaming.

I agree with vortexdr. Most people here are always in some strange, cranky, bad mood, flamming and insulting people for silly reasons, having hysterical reactions to small sins (like suggesting stuff that has already been suggested and starting "I love this game" threads out of the official sticky).

Also, some people here are acting like "M&B" zealots. The smallest critic is received with anger, replyed with insults and **** like "I love this game, if you dont like it, go play EverQuest you moron!". This kind of "fanboyism" is really ruinning this small community.

I love "M&B", Im even making free propaganda about it to friends and in forums, so more people will know and buy the game. But some criticism is always healthy, im my opinion.

Some sad facts:

1 - The next update is really taking long. A people are starting to get anxious about it.

2 - The developers dont seen to bother much in informing the customers about the game progress, or anything actually. The website dont have a single information about release dates, planned features and such. The "news" section seens long forgotten.

3 - Thats is specially bad since they are selling this unfinished software. I, and most people here, have already payed for "M&B" and now I feel i have the right to know how at least a bit about the game's current progress.

4 - Perhaps Armagan does not have the time to update the website regulary, but is hard to believe that he cant find 5 minutes to post a "Sorry guys, I know its taking long. But calm down, the next patch will be out soon and will have a lot of great surprises" or something like that here in the forum. He would not waste a lot of time in this and it will really help to chill out the moods around here.

Have you guys ever tried to make a game?! Huh!! It's hella harder than modding. First you start from scrach and then build on. Miniatures, then the hardest part is coding and programming the game. Like the game "God of War". It's team consisted of 48+ creating that game. And it still took over a year and a 1/2. Plus, maybe you should be happy for current version because the older aren't as good.

Yes, it is taking a while, eveyone knows that. But why do they all think we'll get an update faster if they keep nagging about it? Just play another game, if you think that you've played M&B too much.

The above stated reasons are EXACTLY why I stopped posting and usually just sit around reading the forum.

I love the game.

I respect the dev(s).

I would love a game update.

I would really love a small sticky that is locked that Arm (and Arm alone) could post a note every now and then just to calm the anxiety.

I DID just say a sticky ... because I think the majority of the current stickies need to be removed. They are clutter and virtually useless.

I bought the game ... read the forums ... saw a possibility for an awesome community ... started posting like mad and trying to be an active member of such a community ... then quickly gave up after seeing the way 'fanboyism' had set in. The general attitude of 'many' of the posters of this forum, revolt me ... there is no call for the way they treat people.

If the forum was like this the first time I had ever come to this site .... I never would have bought the game. It is a major negative mar on such a gorgeous gem of a game/community. To think that there are probably many people that pass up such an addictive and fun game due to the way the forum junkies often react to posts is a sad, sad thing.

I agree with Arm releasing the mod tools a.s.a.p. .... 200 people making mods for the game can create MUCH more content in a few weeks than he and his wife can create in a year. Smart move, in my opinion. He should, however ... keep his supportive community a little better informed. I do NOT think that he should give us daily updates and inform us as to everything he is trying to do with the game ... that builds up false expectations and then when things don't pan out and have to be removed or set aside, people will invariably get upset. Yet, a small note every now and then ... even to the extent of the following: "Sorry to all for the lack of recent updates. Ran into a major problem and it now has my full priority. Thought you would like to know, and wanted to keep you updated ........"

Is it much? No. Does it tell us exactly what he is trying to put in-game? No. Will it stop most people from getting discouraged and thinking that the dev has lost his fervor for creating this game? Yes.

Just a few thoughts from an older ex-forum fan,
Narcissus

Heh funny. Anyway yeah for a matter of fact I have been involved within the entertainment industry for well over 7 years...I started out doing regular QA and am now a QA lead at Ubisofts Montreal studio doing some modeling at the side so I can hopefulyl move on.

But that isn't the point. It's good to see some people agree with me and while there might of been a better way to say it my point still stands. Somewhat regular updates shoudn't be all that hard to produce.

Now I know I can't even start to compare Ubi with an independant product however I can still expect updates, a status update is still better then no update and nope there is no reasont o popst an update every day but from time to time yeah something should come for sure to assure the user said product is even still being worked on.

As far as my forum posts go....well I never really felt like posting for the exact reasons which I already talked about. So just because I didnt flame "newbies" for being new it's somewhat interesting to see someone mention when I created my account...

I've been feeling kind of put off because of the snappishness and hostility of some of the community, but I realize it's probably just because they're feeling impatient for an update on the state of the game. Since there haven't been any for a while, there's no new information to discuss. At the same time, new people are joining the community, and asking about things that everyone else have already discussed to conclusion, which annoys the oldtimers.

Actually, if you ask me, when a new user posts something that's already been discussed, a forum mod should step in, politely post a link to the previous discussion, then lock the thread. That would avoid the sort of citizen vigilante forum moderation we've been seeing.

Actually, I think this goes back to the first point: most of the criticisms and suggestions people are submitting at this point have already been discussed. There was one guy who went off on a rant about why he wouldn't buy the game, why the graphics suck and everything sucks and suckity-suck, but it turned out he was just mad because he doesn't like the copy protection, so the whole thing was a waste of everyone's time. Beyond that, most of it has already been heard; if it hasn't, from what I can tell, it usually gets a good, thoughtful discussion going.

As I mentioned in another thread, we may feel we are entitled to an update since we have paid for the game, but the fact is that what we paid for is the game that we have right now, plus the right to any future updates of the game. We are not, at least legally speaking, entitled to progress reports from the devs. It's great if we get them, but if we don't, we have no official right to complain.

Mind you, I do think some regular updates would be a good idea. It keeps the community happy and gives them things to discuss. But I'm not a game dev, so I don't know how hard it really is to keep that kind of thing up.

I agree with Lost-Lamb. I went out and payed $50 for AvP2, and beat it in 2 days. Gameplay sucked, story sucked, it was short, linear as hell, and not even complete(i actually found a few areas where i fell throught he map because it was so poorly designed). So even if there were no more updates, i'd say i got my moneys worth as is. However, this being a small game, we're the ones selling it. Its popularity is growing largely by word of mouth. So in that respect, it really wouldn't hurt to be updated on its progress every few days or so...if this community is to continue growing that is. Now, with respect to rude members, there are at least half a dozen people that i can think of right off the top of my head (not to name names) that should be warned, then banned if they flame one more new member. It sickens me to see someone post "Wow! i love this game, its amazing, and the community is nice too!" and watch people walk all over him with "Try using a search next time!", with an invisible but understood derogatory "n00b" at the end of that line. Someone is posting about how awesome the game is and there are actually people *****ing him out because he didn't use proper forum etiquette!? Personally, i don't think we should even have a thankyou sticky, it makes it seem to much like "we dont' really care if you like the game, so long as you payed us and aren't wasting forum space". Lets not turn this into the something similar to the Counterstrike or Runescape community PLEASE!

No, a thankyou sticky saves a lot of space. If you notice now, a lot of the time, the new user won't be flamed, just directed to whatever he needs to be directed too. The times when users are flamed, is when they say for example,'oh yeah, i saw the thankyou thread but i hate rules'

I think they deserve whatever they get for that.

As for updates, id love one, but this gam is awesome as it is, and although it's got old now, i got by far my moneys worth out of it, and id still be glad i purchasd it if there were no moe updates. Still, you could just tell us your still alive armagan...

And vortex docor, your annoyed at these 'forum vets' for insulting newcomers? Hmmm...i believed you just labelled them all as 15 year olds, which is not only appearing as an insult, but is also a highly uneccersary shot at 15 year olds. Im 15. Am i an arsehole because i am 15? No. So go and take your pointless and degrading behaviour elsewhere, it's not needed in a community where there is, according to you, enough nastiness already.
