New Total War game

I heard there was a new Total War game to be announced.. Does anyone have any info about it? Rumours were spreading they were planning to add fantasy units, wich'd really screw up the 'always so realistic' TW franchise. Other s thought it'd be Medieval 2, renaicansse or the napoleonic era.

Well again, any official information, or guesses?

Unfortunately it is everything you feared. placed in an imaginary time, there are Spartans, Barbarians, Trojans and... yes, they face monsters and the lot.

The good part is that it looks as how M&B would look if it were programmed by a bunch of blood lust maniacs with a lot of money and resources. Pity they have not gone for the hardcore game!

The napoleonic game was Imperial glory. Strategic map similar to that of TW. the battles and battlefields look great, the units too... and then, when the battle start you realize of 2 things:
First of all the high pitched rithm of movement and attack of the units and an IA that does not seem to be much better than that of C&C. What a great opportunity the developed has lost! Giving to arcade gamestyle when they could have done a little bit more and make a game that would have been THE game of refference for Napoleonic strategy and warfare.
 
Errr... Spartan has been around for half a year or so, and there are a thousand Napoleonic strategy games coming out every year.
 
lol no, I haven't lived under a rock for the past half year.. but thanks for the try on spartan ;) It's indeed too arcadish.
And for worba; If there's more napoleonic games that doesn't mean they won't make it napoleonic does it?

Edit: Sorry, it seems I haven't made myself too clear, I'm talking about the next TotaWar game, not TotalWarrior or anything else, so the next title after Rome: TotalWar.. wich they are producing at the moment

Lol!! how ironique, thats true, RTW's AI are crap. i once defeated three armies of 700+ Gauls with an army of 1000, because my fort was seiged.
 
As long as it isnt anything like a napoleonic game...

Even Fantasy would be ok for me. But i will just wait and see what it will be...
More important is the Elderscrolls 4 release.

Agreed. I do hope (unlike most games) it lives up to all the hype and runs on my comp.
 
Rome: TW sucked... they should have just released the engine and let the modders take over, playing the vanilla verson was like pulling teeth... the soldiers of Partha were friggin dressed in PINK! what was that **** about, queer eye for the 400 bc guy? What were the creators thinking? "pink is intimidating! the enemy will run away because they will fear getting plowed in the anus!"

The only thing missing was lubricant soldiers.

And this new Spartan: Total warrior is kindda gay too, it's like a mix between Dynasty warriors and Shadow of Rome. Which wouden't be such a bad thing if we didn't already have Dynasty warriors and Shadow of Rome.

Activision should go back to the old Medieval TW format with the updated battle engine and graphics. If it aint broke, don't ****in touch it.

That kind of abomination should be punishable by death.
Seriously, AI there is WAY worse than in Master of Orion 1. And AI was a GOOD part compared to the rest of that fecalia.
 
I visited the Master of Orion 3 board for over a year before its release. Ive never had such high hopes turn to utter **** over a computer game. I never even finished a single game. When I see the disk from time to time I have to shake my head.
 
The new tw game is called Mediviel2:total war.

Was on the cover of an italian magazine.

Activision be damned, the Creative Assembly are the Devs, Activision were the publishers of S:TW/MI, M:TW/VI and R:TW, Sega are now the publishers (and thank god, they at least don't limit the number of patches).

The announcement on the Italian magazine cover has not been confirmed as true or a hoax/misinformation yet. I'll be waiting to see, apparently the date for a magazine exclusive is early February (can't remember which magazine).
