Recruit
Hey folks, first time poster got the game the other day and have been playing it and have a few questions to ask

1. Horses, i know that u can upgrade some troops to cavalry but i noticed that some standard infantry when i looted some horses were mounted in the next battle (only teh number of horses i had) or was i dreaming lol! can standard men mount looted horses if their in your backpack, is it the same with other weapons and armor too???

2. i want to side with the mongol faction (forgive me i cant spell the name lol!) but there not at war with any1. non of the minor villages are giving me quests, and most of the castles give me letter delivery quests and thats it, ive done a heap but still cant become a vassal and even if i do is there any point cos they aint fighting with any1? so is there any other way to get high enough to become a vassal to the king?

3. if i get a faster horse will i move faster on the map? atm my warband is big enough to scare away most bandits BUT i cant catch them so theres heaps of steppe bandit cavalry roaming that i cant catch lol.

I think thats it for now, if i think of anymore ill post, i was a bit unsure of why i wasnt being able to recruit more dudes but i realised it was cos of my leadership/charisma so i fixed that one

Cheers in advance Knoddy

1. Some infantry has a chance for a horsie. They spawn with or without horsies. If they dont have the chance they wont mount horsies in inventory.
2. Win tournaments, they give you 20 renown each and do quests for Khergits/Mongols. You will eventually be a vassal.
3. Nope. To travel faster you need smaller army, high morale, mounted troops and a few horses in inventory.

Some troops have the possibility of horse. In that case some (25 - 50%) appear mounted on the battlefield. Loot you find has no effect on that. It is also possible for infantry skilled in riding to mount free running horses on the battlefield.

It's Khergit.
To become a vassal you need enough reputation (150, depending on your relation with the leader of the faction). When you have enough talk to the faction leader and offer your services. You get reputation by doing quests, winning difficult battles, winning tournaments... It is not important who you do the quests for.

The speed of your horse is not important, just that you are mounted or not.
Other factors are your group size, how many of them are mounted, the Pathfinding skill and the weight of your inventory. You can counter that weight at least partially by having additional horses in your inventory.

thanks for the replies fellas so if i go do quests for other factions i can still be a vassal to the khergit? i dont have to stick exclusively to their quests?

i had another question i remembered, i had a notice about one of the characters with me having lved up, can i give him skills n attributes n the like, like i can when i lv or is it just like a token lv up lol. Also is there anyway to kit those characters out in different gear etc?

Cheers Knoddy

Could I just fling on a related question? So I don't have to make a new thread?

This thing about faster partyspeed with extra horses in the inventory, how does that work? Does it matter what kind of horses they are?

And, just one more thing that I think I know the answer to, weapons and armour and other gear in your inventory don't slow you down, right? But any food or commodity (I think that's the word I'm looking for) will, right?

But they weigh far less than bulk goods, so their effect is negligible even if you have an inventory full of plate armors.

That's wrong. Plate has 27 weight, which is more than many foods (and almost as high as some trade goods). Although individual equipments don't slow you down much, an inventory full (if you have high inv. man.) of heavier armors will slow you down nearly as much as trade goods will.

You can travel fast on the party map, you just need alot of food and keep fighting! After each victory it gives my men enough morale to keep goin a couple  a days but you always have to keep fighting. (which isn't really a problem) lol

ok another question, i got my vassalage but there is nothing going on, i want warrrrrrrrrrr is there anyway to force war on my king?

Cheers Knoddy

so the other day i bought a heavy charger thinking i could smash some people up with it, but to my dismay its so slow the speed bonouses i get from it are minimal compared to my old mount. so let me ask, wots your preference, heavy mount with slower speed or fast mount with good manoverability ? am i right in saying that being slower mount while my horse charges for more dmg, its slower speed lessens speed bonouses on attacks?

is there anyway to get your people to go to war without doing the quest, i got the quest to attack trade caravans and went to war with Rhodoks (as Khergit) and smashed them took like 4-5 castles and then we went to peace  can i say go attack some random nord army and send them to war? OR can i go vassal myself to another kd and be the vassal of 2 kds?

do u find theres a bit of slum in action around party size 30-60 ish? i found that everything runs from me but im too small to take on other lords the only reason i was able to do so much when we went to war was because the khan formed a war party and i followed around about 1000 Khergit troops capturing castles.

Cheers  for any answers fellas

I prefer the Heavy Charger, but not against Khergits. But seeing as you are the Khergits, go ahead and use it.

The only way to get them to war is with the quest. And you can only be a vassal of one Kingdom.

If you have a castle, drop them in it. If not, you're party should be high enough tiered to take on other parties now. Find a weak Rhodok party, or even better, find a Rhodok caravan. They provide lots of loot and money. Try looting a few villages too, they can't run

Cheers  for any answers fellas

thnx forr the answers mabons another question if i attack say a rhodok caravan when wer enot at war wot happens??
