Sergeant at Arms
I've never posted here, but I've been lurking a long time.  M&B is the game I've been searching for for years.  Even in beta it's great and some of the mods are awesome.

I want to do some simple modding for myself.  I mean simple.  Adding chests and furniture and stuff to scenes, putting gear from one mod into my game, maybe making my own NPCs.  All for my own enjoyment, at the moment at least. I've played around with the UnofficialEditor and tried the In-game editor, nothing I do works.  I've read everything in the modding forums that seemed even remotely like it might be helpful and nothing's worked.  I have a couple of questions/requests to start.  If that works, I might have more.

1. Is the In-game editor in the action scenes/town scenes meant to have a side panel?  One partially comes up on the (facing) left side of the screen if I hold the mouse button down on it, and I seem to be able to move it around, but it won't stay visible.  I can't get any object to insert into action screens in-game.

2. First, very simple, I would like to add a zendar_chest to the Four Ways Inn scene.  Any instructions would be greatly appreciated.  I have tried to do this by adding a chest to it in the UnofficialEditor but obviously I'm missing something.  (And yes, I have saved, several different ways, no chest.)

I hope I don't sound rude or blunt, I am just getting rather frustrated that something that seemed so simple just won't work.
ANY help would be greatly appreciated if someone can spare the time.

Ta, very much, and sorry for the bother.  I know it seems rather dim, but I just cannot get anything to work.
Thanks again,   Vako

Oh, and if this is the wrong forum for this, tell me and I'll try and move it, but I think I got it right. (People do seem to post all over the place.)

For in-game edit mode to work you need to start the game in windowed mode (and with edit mode enabled), use CTRL+E to enter and exit edit mode. Press H for help.

To add the zendar chest I think you first need to add an entry point to the FourWays inn scene with the in-game edit mode, and then with the Effidian's editor write in the correct entry point number for the four-ways scene.

Hope this helps.

Using Alt+Enter will allow you to change to windowed mode in-game, Alt+Enter will bring you back into standard mode.

Searching "Edit" would have yielded this editing mode tutorial armagan created.

I did actually search "edit" (or "editor," I.m not sure, I've been trying different searches for a few days).  I'm not all that happy with the search function on these forums, it comes up with the oddest things sometimes.  Thanks, by the way.  I now have the In-game editor working so scenes objects we can do, zendar chest still to work out as the editor doesn't have an obvious add-troops function.  I also can't mod on my native game, or a copy thereof in the UnofficialEditor, it has error lines somewhere and won't save.  if I can make a copy (of the errors) I'll post them (game works fine).  So at the moment I'm working off other people's mods.  Great eh.
If you haven't noticed already, I'm fairly technospastic and not good at working out things like this. I'll muddle along, but any tid-bits of help are greatly appreciated by this animal here.
