Sergeant at Arms
What i mean is,when you recruit people from 1 of the main armys from the tavern as they upgrade they split into a particular path, The 3 paths being, mounted mellee, ground mellee and ground ranged. Well seeing as when you choose to start making non mounted people instead it splits so you can either make them mellee or ranged. Well i would like to see the ability to have mounted ranged units in your party without having to liberate some steep bandits or black kergits. The swadian troops would split to make:
mounted swadian skimisher -> mounted swadian crossbowman -> mounted swadian marksman
The vaegirs would become: Mounted vaegir skirmisher-> Mounted vaegir archer-> mounted vagier marksman.

Do you think this should be included?

If this has already been surgested please post a link as i wasn't able to find anywaything.

I think that the idea is that mounted archers are not really prevelant to the area. Thus, the locals can't actually upgrade to them. It's really a storyline decision, rather than something fundemental. There are mods where you can upgrade mounted archers (and hurlers). This comes from the semi-european basis of the game.

Sword sisters are mounted crossbows, and they will upgrade rather quickly if you have a point or two invested in training [on you or B&M]. Takes about 2-3 weeks of normal skirmish to get a refugee [better start than peasant woman] to Sword Sister. Keep one of these in the bottom of you party list at all times and accumulate your SwordSis company in a castle until you have them all - then continue, to develop spares. The trick is that their 'nymph' stages are all infantry and they are kinda vulnerable there, but they are not bad if you have them in numbers. You need around 5, I think.

Capturing Khergits is, as you note, about the only other way to get mounted archery forces. They are quite durable and rarely get lost - I have a level 27 char who is hauling 8 of her 10 original khergits from her level 14 days. Dunno how many s. and v. knights I've replaced. Sometimes you have to work with what you've got. It is something of a habit with me that levels 12-15 are generally the time to accumulate khergits. then I try to build a darks contingent -  although I am always looking for an opportunity to do that.

Also - just an opinion - I try to keep my V and S contingent to around 20% or less of my forces. They just don't offer any interesting tactical advantages over the enemies I engage, and they are too predictable.

Don't they have ones which aren't reloadable on horseback? The only place where I ended up with a bunch of them was in Darkmod, which had lots of other mounted archers.

Looked to me like Lights, but I could be wrong. I need to spend some more time following them around and observing. I hear a lot of crossbows when I have no other crossbow units, although they could be dismounting. Never see more than one or two off horse at battle end, and I usually have 5 of them.
Still like them better than S. or V. knights [but that's just personal].
Will reply when I have some facts.

Was only able to find time for one battle at the moment, and observed three of five Sisters largely using swords. hmmmm....
Maybe that's why they ride coursers? so you can rely on them becoming infantry? Or maybe the veiled threat of them becoming crossbows makes them a less preferred target for unhorsing?
More to follow [will be away from games for a few days].
