Yes, those are shields with a nice texture on them. And the purpose is? You want to get them in M&B I suppose...

Of course, and at once when mod tools come out, any of us would add alot of new shields, weapons, and armors, so we woulc have a choice to become many different type of warriors in Mount and Blade.

Or someone could make a specific mod with new armors, shields, and weaopns for adding a new roman factor to Mount and Blade.

Pretty nice, but way too wide compared to height. Sorry, but it's the truth.

Where'd you get the pattern from?

If you dont mind finding me real picture of praetorian legionary, they will be very helpful to my modeller friend who modelled this roman's shield, to adjust the height and width of it to proper size?

the model seems alright, cant really see its 3d features, seems very low poly from the angle almost like a square with half a geoshpere. I dont mean to judge harshly but i just cant tell from that angle i like the texture though

Yes, it's not so easy to tell for sure, but they do appear a bit wide for the height - just a little.

Otherwise, it's beautiful and quite impressive. I'd like a "lost legionaire" to appear in Caladria carryin said shield.

Out-of-place? Yes, but fun all the same.

I have a question for modeller, what is limit of poly. for ingame when modelling shield, armor, and weapons? Would it have to be at least 1,000 poly or less?

Jeff (he's one who is currently modelling for this game), is trying to keep it low poly as possible, in order to aviod any of lags ingame.

I think that 1000 is far too many. I've made a shield with only 82 (and it doesn't look too bad )

aye there's no real limit, Armagan's tested levels with 100,000 polys in total and there wasn't a great slowdown. HOWEVER! 1000 polys for a shield is very very high! I've been modelling swords for Armagan and most are between 100-300 polys. So for even quite a complicated shield you shouldn't be looking at more than 150 I'd say?

Eagle, I don't know about praetorian shields, but I think they were identical to the scutums used by regular infantry (Except for decorations, probably), so here's a picture of an imitation scutum. I'd say the proportions on this one look just about right. You might add a slight curve at the corners, as shown in this shot, I don't think they were quite as straight as on the current model.

i thought preatorians wore purple gear? although i have only guessed that from films and games

and if your getting 1000 polys for a shield or sword you have problems, truth is there are no first person models and 3rd person models dont need to be high poly as the other guy said 300 would suffice

I agree with you, the edge should be folded a bit more, to about 10 to 15 degree backward, while resizing the size of this shield a bit smaller.

I like them, but they're too flat. Remember they were suppose to slightly curve around the legionary for added protection.
