hey, just downloaed NE mod 5.80

i downloaded the .582 patch, but when i launch it still says .580, is this normal??
i put .582 files into main NE folder, correct?

i also downloaded, siege addon

also a question about hosted textures pack, does it require better performance?

thanks in advance

That's correct. There's no new screen for that.

The SiegeAddon is cool. I'd definitely recommend it.

The link to the textures is  a bit misleading. It's a pack for modding and not just installing. You don't need it and Merc recently stated, that it will be used later.

cheers man, yeah did a search i guess i should of first

i have another question..

in NE the looters have been changed to warbandits yes? so when i get quest to kill looters do i need to kill those guys instead??

also, whats a good way to lvl up, should i just kill faction patrols or are there lower lvl groups to kill?

i started M&B couple days ago, in vanilla native i would start by killing looters and work my way up

now i dont know who or what i can kill, any tips for begining?

That's there for a reason you know?

I'd try to get money, then a few mercenaries so your recruits can survive the first fights.
And you shouldn't attack faction patrols right in the beginning it will only get you in trouble. A nice tip is to follow a Lord party around and join any fight he gets in.
Safe loot and experience.

As for your first enemies... that a tough one as even the casual bandits are rather tough. Try those guys* in Vaegir country and the equivalent over at the Rhodoks
But for the love of the gods, stay away from the Khergit territories in the beginning. Those steppe bandits and raiders will tear you a new one.

*seriously forgot the name  :???:
Desperate Bandits?

ok i dont understand why this is happening...

when i fight an evenly matched group of enemies, when the battle starts they will have like 3 times more units

i was thinking because there are other enemies near by? but they are far in between, it makes fighting these guys impossible

i just attacked a group of bandits with my 20 men against thier 26, and when the battle loaded that had like 100 guys?

how am i supposed to take these guys out..

im losing all my money on recuits and then being destroyed liek this

That's them helping each other, yes.
Try lure one or two groups away. Either by hunting them or being hunted, doesn't matter.

But you might want to rethink your strategy. Try to earn some money first [trading, tournaments, easy quests], then hire some Mercenaries. If you're fighting those bandits then at least 1/3 of them should be ranged ones. They will do the fighting while your raw recruits from the villages stand by, learn and hopefully live to see another battle, er.. day.

i had to start over, i made 6000 and had veterns, used the rest of my money on mercenaries etc by lv 7 but i had lost everything so thta was no good..

im going to take it slow, and watch so i dont run into any trouble.. ive already have a big group going and have been targeting deserters so doing quests

ill try to fill my ranks with more ranged

No joke.  If you even start in Khergit territory I'd suggest a restart.  The Steppe Bandits and Raiders can run you down before you can even reach a city...

I spent two game weeks captured by various steppe warbands one game... two weeks of running towards a city, getting caugth, escaping, running towards a city, getting caught, escaping, etc...

Thankfully I'm awesomesauce at the arena or I'd never have been able to afford companions or mercs when I finally got there.  That was a very crappy game start...

Yeah, you can't even recruit the heroes from taverns down there for a good part of the early game as you know you'll lose half your men if you're caught. I remember I was well on in the game one time, I had massive pathfinding so I was no slouch myself. I had seventy men with me, and I was caught by an 800-man Khergit army because a bloody 7-man scouting party caught up with me. I was doing something really important at the time too; I was livid.

well i have to say im doing a LOT better now..

im like lvl 7 again maybe 8, have 30k+,army composed of seasoned nords and mercs roughly 60-70 strong, keep my ranks filled with fresh blood

damn i diddnt know caravan guards were so badass!! cavalry really kicks ass in game, they are all mercanery captains now

well think ill just continue this way, make money, train army, do quests and soo hopefully ill start my own faction

cheers

As far as I could see, desperate bandits over the the rhodocks/swadian border do not carry ranged things, so they make for easy hunting in the early part of the game. Just carry lots of arrows and try not to let them catch up with you.

Does rely a lot on being a horse archer though.
