Had barely one online tournament with some minimal amount of money on it, and you want to just straight out make a lan tournament with a huge reward?
You're all being very delusional. It takes a lot of money to make a lan tour worth travelling to, and still, half of the "top" community is underage.
How can you even consider this without sponsors.

I didn't mention anything about a huge reward. Also, it helps to get sponsorship if you have an idea before speaking to them. Not sure you get much sponsors by turning up and saying "Hi will you sponsor us?" , "what for?"  "Ummm not sure yet, but there's no point in considering it until I have a sponsor."

Anyways, Ideas are free. You might think its delusional talking, but that bad idea might give someone a good idea. I would like to see a bit of revival in the NA scene, so any idea or incentive is good and brainstorming is the way to do it.

You all talk like defeatists. where there is a will there is a way! Like I've said before, anyone know any eccentric millionaires?

A LAN needs a high reward to be worth playing, isn't it obvious.

where's the point here? you don't get sponsors with "ideas" by any means.

but that bad idea
you got it

Does it? I was under the impression that the free trip to a country to play in a LAN event that decides the best of the best once and for all would be reward enough. Perhaps I'm mistaken, and people would only compete in that tournament for a Huge reward.

Anyways, I'll go back to dreaming about playing in the Nations cup this year  that too will never happen

LAN poses new challenges to face when we still don't have a solid base.

Just consider the bare minimum. 8 EU teams, 64 players (minimum)

Unless you have a special contract with a provider of hardware, whether it will be a manufacturer or an internet cafe, you have to pay 16 computers. Add any additional ones for streaming. THEN we have to make sure that we can hold around 80 players and how knows how many specs, so we will need a venue. THEN we will need funding for this AND a prize pool (A least 5k Euro)
AND THEN we have visa issues, ruleset and other stuff to worry about.

Up until now we had community driven online tournaments that have 0 upkeep and a small prize pool

Maybe we shouldn't step too far?

Why is the prospect of the biggest tournament in NA history with the biggest prizepool in Warband history being derailed by outlandish talk of a LAN?

This would be great, especially if some of the big teams came back. If not the lure of the prize-pool then the guarantee that all the other big names would be playing may be enough. Good luck, it would be outstanding if this happened.

Look all we gotta do is run smaller tourneys with just na teams and if we want to do a "UNAC" type tournament make it a NA Hosted  tourny that both EU and NA teams can play in (means its on NA severs only so teams can't ***** about ping issues when TSB beats them). Or just have a NA only UNAC and make it like the 1st UNAC where everyone plays everyone to make up for loss of teams.

So can we plz stop trying to get these **** clans that left to come back, like no need to put money into this game just to get overrated teams back playing because they feel they deserve money for playing a game that everyone else in NA plays.

it's just stupid that some teams forced central when they already have a massive edge and then they moan about losing to filthy europeans ;_;

Know what's ****ing stupid? When a European team joins a North American tournament and has better latency than an NA team because they ***** and complain about east coast servers against teams that have west coast and Hawaii players.

The **** out of this thread.

Also, I never said a LAN was practical. I said it's the only reason I'd care to go through the massive effort of coming back again. I get the effort that goes into LAN, I don't think you guys understand the effort that goes into bringing some of these teams back to life every time and ensuring they're on point.

Hey, you guys make it to the finals?

Didn't ****ing think so.

Keep talking **** about not even making the finals, yet we did.

**** you

no **** we didn't make the finals. We lost to the winners of the tournament in the semifinal. That's how knockout work you drooling mongrel

Little proptip for you:

If you're the one joining tournaments to beat the best in the scene and you can't manage to place above them, you didn't beat them. You're also not the one other people are seeking out to beat, so your name must not be worth as much either. When people are chasing you around trying to make a trophy out of you, you're clearly on top; when you're the one doing the chasing, you obviously aren't. You saying you joined a tournament solely for the chance to beat us -- and still failing to finish higher than us, sorry about that (not really you ****ing prick) -- kind of proves who's who in that little metaphor, doesn't it?

Some **** to think about.

Also, who's fault is it you were the low seed? Maybe if you wanted a better placement, try not going into single elimination as a low seed. You know, that thing that you get when your team mathematically does worse than mine, giving you a mathematically lower number because you factually didn't do as well as we did during the season. You know, what really counts.

Run along and go be a nobody somewhere else. I may be a has-been but this whole never-was charging in here and talking ****, go do it in another thread. This clearly isn't meant for you nor your attempt to act like you get to sit at the big boy table. Being obnoxious doesn't give you that right, being obnixous and being able to back it up kind of does. You talk ****, but you play second string and lead nothing. Go home before I tell Cleric on you -- you know, the guy who can actually say the **** you're saying and it be worth a ****.

Yeah, the idea of making a lot of nerds online not like me that much really doesn't sway me from posting honest truths about retarded people.

Shema is retarded as **** and came in trying to act hard, **** him.

Unfortunate he derailed the thread.

Continue with the NA tournament stuff.

I don't think an International LAN tourney should be totally ruled out. It needs a bit of creative thinking, and some very strong backers, but that's not an impossible thing (unlikely yes). But that's for another time.

For the purposes of this thread, I'm all for someone trying to inject a bit of life into a scene, that by all means seems to be in decline.

By having a cash prize, it might not bring back the legends of the scene, but it might bring in new interest and talent to the scene. As has been said, money isn't going to bring back the big boys unless it's a significant amount.

I would imagine a tournament with $1000 might bring a number of smaller, more skilled teams to the fore. a team of 10 instead of 16 = greater money for each player.
