Posting for a contact I know who was pretty much the only person breathing life into WFAS a few months ago.
There's pretty serious interest in running a few weekend long tournament with a fairly large prize pool (~400+ USD afaik) possibly winner take all style, but the sponsor organizer dude wants there to be hype. Like he's talking bringing back the big boys like Rhade and Mad Dawg. He wants BkS vs Balion vs TMW vs wK finals stuff. Figured this was the most relevant place to see if that interest existed.
So, everyone who considers themselves relevant in the community (i.e. not random eu players who don't play with or follow us), he's looking for feedback. The more people the better!!!

Considering last UNAC had 12, and without extra incentive I'd say you're losing TMW and Balion and possibly wK, and since I consider the extra money probably not being enough to bring back any old clans, I'd say he should shoot for 12. He'd love for 16, and thinks he can get some teams from NW and WFAS, but I have learned not to rely on players from those games personally.

Arys is the only admin from the most recent UNAC worth his salt imo. While many of you did not see it, all the UNAC S4 admins can attest to some bull**** and lack of actually caring about the tournament from most of their number that was obvious from a long PM chain that attempted to fix the attitude and issues with the last UNAC. Granted I'm biased because I like Arys and he's in my clan, but I seriously doubt you'd find someone who will actually do things and cares more than him, at least as of a month ago. Now I'm not so sure. No one else stands out from the most recent season of UNAC and I can't realistically seeing someone like Marnid return. I also can't think of anyone else not an admin or recent admin who's responsible or caring enough to be a worthwhile admin, but I haven't played on POM in a bit, so I'm probably least knowledgeable here.
About what time should this stuff start up/how long can we keep up the hype and tournament?
As soon as possible and as short as possible. He's looking for one round per weekend. I think you can do 3 or 4 weekends tops. I've always been pushing for shorter tournament lengths anyway. I think saying "your game is saturday at this time, if you win, you play again an hour later, if you win again you play next week, if you lose you're out" is much better than saying "go schedule with John."
Streaming is pretty important to this idea and the sponsor organizer thingy dude, so any thoughts on how to set it up?
One stream, two casters, one camera. Anyone who wants to cast can do a tryout and we'll run pickup parties for them to cast. They cast one map then someone else tries out. Best casters get picked (either by community vote or by tournament organizer) and they actually practice together, maybe watch another eSport for the first time in their lives, and actually put some effort into creating hype and worthwhile commentary. Someone updates the ******** streamer module with the correct minimaps.
Any other things to take into consideration? (map pools? duels? UNAC rules? formats? strats on getting bks to play?)
