Veteran
Michael Caine fans get your red unifroms handy and fire at will!

You know it would be awesome

I'm not even thinking about making this until UDL gets finished (if!?!) but i just thought i'd see what people thought about the idea.

Would be awesome, have considered throwing in some other time periods (Napoleonic, Crimea, Zulu etc) as single battle pieces in my mod, perhaps using the custom battle mod if is updated so you can choose your time period and enemy. I have a mid victorian British infantry uniform already, was be a breeze to retexture the cuffs and lapels to 24th foot 1870's.

Would really need a Zulu model though.

There are some skin shields in the expanded gameplay mod,and i beleive some items and clothing from the paeleolithic mod that could be used for Zulu purposes.

Ace  Well if people can send me through the resources I'll build quick battles and make a mini mod (only a couple of hours work I should think). Not sure how the rifle stuff would work but I'll chat to the guy who does the 1866 mod and see how he got it in.

Resources that would be needed I reckon:

British:
Uniform
Helmet
Enfield Rifle
Revolver
Sabre

Zulu:
Shield
Short stabby spear thing
Body texture with african paint on it

Scenes:
A wagon
A tent
Broken Cannon

Sound:
Zulu war cry
British voices (Michael we love you!)

Art:
A logo
Some zulu art

I wouldent mind doing some voice acting, what with me being british (and scottish) and all

I lived in South Africa for several years, and if you could make a scene model of Rorke's Drift that would be awesome!

This mod sounds like a great idea. I can see the hordes of screaming impis right now...

You would probably want to have a bayoneted rifle for close quarters fighting.

And they didn't have Lee-Enfields until the 1890's, they used Martini-Henry breech loaders with a .58 caliber ball I think.

Ealdormann Hussey 说:
.45/577 martini henry.

Indeed, I got my facts straight after posting that list

Hey any chance we could pinch one of your uniforms and perhaps a rifle and revolver mesh/mat?

Ask Dain if you can use my victorian adaption of his uniform, it will need jampot cuffs rather than guard cuffs, leather gaiters and a couple of extra bits of leather carriage, but by and large it's done. He may be more likely to let you use it now I'm working on PN again, he's in a better mood

Revolvers - my mod is set before revolvers, ask Highlander for his Adams revolver, it is the one that Chard and Bromhead were issued, not a Webley as portrayed in Zulu and Zulu Dawn which only started being issued in 1880.

If you can persuade Highlander to let you have his enfield 3 band too, the martini externally is exactly the same except for the breech block.

If you guys like/don't mind I'll make it part of Perennial Nuisance, the plan is to have the main campaign, but on the starup screen you will be able to choose a few different scenarios, Napoleonic, Crimean war Zulu etc (the system of choosing will be somwhat like custom battle mod if you have played it). Release it as a mni mod first though, so you don't have to wait for me.

hehehehehe Great idea i was thinking of a mod like this also  some pictures here  http://www.ospreypublishing.com/osp_img/articlesimages/zulu.jpg  http://www.galleryhistoricalfigures.com/images/ZuluWarrior_Best.jpg    zulu dawn is a very good movie also

Quite some knowledge of military history you have there...

Hehe i only wanted to make it so i could fight one battle - if you're going to include it then I will probably just carry on with UDL and see what you come up with, sounds like it will be more accurate by half!

I just read compusively, amazing what you'll pick up.

One battle was all I intended too, perhaps if you could make a pith helmet?

Lanky 说:
That was already addressed by Highlander. It wasn't issued until the 1880's.

Correct, except my name is Hussey not highlander.

Xenophon 说:
Pith helmets would be awesome.

And I think that the British were using Webleys in 1870.

Definately not. Timeline of officers service revolvers of the British army: Adams revolvers - 1850 to 1880, enfield MkI and MkII revovlers 1880 to 1887, webley 1887 to 1963, Enfield no.2 1932 to 67 (armoury mde higher calibre webley).

Webley did manufacture so revolvers before 1880, inluding the famous british bulldog revolver, the longspur (a cap and ball revolver), the boxer revolver and a revolver for the Irish Constabulary (coincidentally the same revolver that Custer owned a pair of, and reportedly used at little bighorn), but none were issued to the armed forces.
