Ok this is (another) mod idea, which I would like to make after the high def mod, or with the high def mod (IE, make this mod high def).
The idea is a Pirate mod.
Have a huge water map with islands as cities, replaces horses with ships, armies will be replaced with a ship model on the world map.
During battle ships will start at either side (like units do currently) of an all water map, you can either control the ship yourself (press F by the wheel) or have an AI ally pilot while you man a cannon, shoot from the side, or get ready to board.
Also if you board an enemy ship and take it over, you then own this ship and it becomes part of your fleet, and will aid you in battles.
I just think this game engine is designed for a Pirate/Ship-to-ship combat game.
To add to the whole pirate thing, you could attack merchant vessels and make of with a large sum of gold and a large hold of goods to sell.
