New minor campaign map features

Sergeant at Arms
I was trying to think of some handy features that should be included while navigating the world map, and came up with these:

1.  Be able to shift-click multiple points on the map to make a custom route.
2.  Be able to set your travel speed (within your skill level obviously).  Would be handy for when parties have to follow you and you are too fast for them.
3.  Have a command to match your target's speed (again, if you have the appropriate skill level).  Would be good for when you have to follow a marshal.

I would guess these have been suggested before, but putting them up just in case.  I think they'd be really nice to have.

Good ideas. It's really annoying when I want to follow a war band and I'm almost always faster than they.

Supported, especially the third one. Very useful when you lead a caravan into their destination.

I thought these were good suggestions also but it seems they are just going to be swamped by inane threads with stupid suggestions, i.e. samurai.

I'll second this.

The amount of times you have to follow stuff or be followed makes this important.

perhaps on the main map have 'W' and 'S' alter your party speed (up to the max you can go with skill/party composition). you could still pan around with 'A' and 'D' and the mouse.

Well this is all wrong.  :???:
1. I think it should require path finding skill to plot courses through the world map.
2/3. Setting your travel speed and following someone at the correct speed does not require skill. I do it every day.

I like these ideas, otherwise.

Doing it alone is easy, but when you're leading a big group of men it's getting a bit complicated...

Pathfinding isn't a skill that makes you able to use a map. Pathfinding relates to the ability to find a road in the middle of the forest etc. Not map-using skill. I can plot a course from Warsaw to Moscow with how many waypoints I want without knowing how to travel through a forest efficiently...

This is what I was thinking: It's fine if you can plot a nice straight path on a map, but using your compass/the stars and so forth to track your progress on the actual path is a lot harder! I think one reason why a lot of people stay lost in the desert or the woods for so long is that they can't keep their bearings and go in zig-zags instead of a straight line. If you were good at path finding, you could not only plot a course, you could actually follow it!

Well see, what I was thinking was it should be really easy to coordinate your troops if you're already a commander-- I mean, you might not be able to march in an awesome formation, but you should be able to at least march at the same speed as another army. Sure it's difficult- but not any more difficult than getting your army to march at 100 percent speed.

Getting lost in the woods and desert is because of the lack of orientation points. It is rather easy to move in one direction with a compass, you don't need any special training. If you plot a course like - we go from Veluca to the bridge - from the bridge in a straight line to Praven, it is easy to follow such path.

Fun fact. People get lost on a desert, because there is a lot of flat ground and actually one of your legs is always at least a tiny bit shorter than the other. This causes your left or right steps to be shorter than the other, and you end up going in circles.

Compass in XIII century? :???:

Edit: Ok, my bad

Well, in THAT case, I guess it doesn't really take any skill to do any of these things, so I support the OP suggestions with the modification that they are NOT related to pathfinding skill.
