Is there a way to get new loading screen, and the main menu art as a wallpaper? or just as a stand alone picture w/o the text on it? I browsed through the game folder and didn't see anything.

aye those are particularly nice pictures.

There is just one thing wrong with the second picture. anyone know what it is? =P

If you mean the fact that the Rhodok captain has a greatsword, he obviously took that thing off a dead Swadian.

@okiN, actually, the majority of the Rhodok lords wield 2hs. Quite a few have great swords.

However, something that actually is wrong is that afaik none of the troops have been given the bascinets as pictured here :[

Ah... actually, the new bascinets do appear on some SP troops. I agree it's a shame that they're unavailable in MP, as they're very pretty.

That is probably Lord Falsevor.

A quick tut is in order I think. (I have loadscreen1 as my background -- this is how I did it)

1. Download GIMP -- A photoshop like program: http://www.gimp.org/
2. Download the .dds plugin for GIMP: http://nifelheim.dyndns.org/~cocidius/dds/
3. Install the plugin to C:\Program Files\Gimp-2.0\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins
4. the loadscreen, loadscreen2, and main_menu_nord pics are located in C:\Program Files\Mount&Blade Warband\Textures
5. Open one of them with GIMP
6. File -> save as  (I chose jpeg, but it doesn't really matter that much) -- it will tell you that you need to export first, blah blah, just follow the prompts as they're very self-explanatory.
7. The pictures will look squished like the ones posted above -- DO NOT WORRY, they are designed to be stretched across your desktop so they look correct once you set them to desktop background and stretch them instead of having them centered (this is the default anyway)

End Result (My desktop):

Ah! That's all right, then.

Not sure if Rhodoks wear them, but I'm quite sure I've seen some on Swadian cavalry...

Actually, rather then downloading gimp and all the plugin annoyingness, just download Paint.net
That can open .dds by default.

Well, I got the know-how from http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,58725.msg1518020.html#msg1518020

Amazing what's floating around on this forum if you use the search tool.

What what what. Why didn't I know of this. I spent all that time converting all the textures...for nothing?

Yeah.  Windows doesn't detect it at first though.  Open up Pain.net, and then open a .dds file, or select the program from a list.
Very convenient.
