new lines in the config text file?

Bah, I've remembered and forgotten to ask this so many times, now. Bed-time after this.

About config.* which appears in the M&B root directory: I have found a line of text that reads something like "edit mode (on/off)". Has this always been there? The whole file has definitely changed since point-632. What is the function of this "edit mode"?

Ciao.

I was going to post this in another topic but nevermind that idea. XD Yes I think it's new.

Edit mode... it adds a couple buttons to the menu when you're on the travel map.
The first one lets you battle some Swadian guy and a bunch of 'soldiers' which are unarmed and don't move. Once you've defated them you can't choose this option again or the game CTDs because there's nobody there to fight anymore.
The second one lets you generate & view battle maps, letting you choose the ruggedness of the terrain, if it's snow/plains/etc., if it has a river or not, and such.
Also when you're viewing your character's stats there's next/prev buttons that look like they'll let you view the stats for every unit in the game, but not edit them.

It all seems pretty useless to a player like me but maybe it has a use for modders. Or just general bug testing. ^^;

Excuse me while I *bump* this. Not because It's my own thread, particularly, but "edit mode" sounds like a feature that should get more attention.

If the moderators don't like this, then call me a martyr

(N.B. Please, PLEASE don't ban me! *surrenders all denars*)

I never delved into this as I thought that Zii answered you. ??

Am I misunderstanding? If so, I apologize!

This "edit mode" is defiently NOT useless!!! It does all the thing above AND if you press ctrl-E in combat situations or towns or any were you can be outside the character in third person you can create stuff and make your own little town or something...

I have experimented alot in this "mode" and found some commands how to do it...

For safetys sake do a backup of the whole game i have no idea how this may effect the game as i have no experiance in modding

ctrl-E Makes you start/stop editing. If you stop you will get a choice if you want to save or not.
Insert Create thing right infront of you.
delete Destroy the item curretly selected
ctrl-left/right arrow Changes category of the thing you create (got to create to see what you do).
alt-left/right arrow Changes the specific item in the category you have chosen (got to create to see).
page up/down Cycels trough the items already created.
enter Selects the targeted item
W,S,A,D Move camera around.
C,F Move camera up and down.
T (hold, move mouse) Move item up and down.
U (hold, move mouse) Rotate item left and right.
G (hold, move mouse) Move item around.
Y (hold, move mouse) Rotate item around the "Y-axis".
Z (hold, move mouse) Rotate item around the "Z-axis".
X (hold, move mouse) Rotate item around the "X-axis".
R Set item in a strait position

Sorry for the spelling, english is not my first language. And please dont ban me if i have done anything wrong.... Ohhh hello and a great game by the way.

Once you've added things and you leave the scene what does 'save work' do? Does it permanently change that area? Does it modify the savegame file or the game files?

this is not works for me... I added new objects and stuff

For the earlier question from sheek: it saves in the game files and is permanent but you can move your save to the backup you hopfully made and everything will be back to normal.

For this question above from Kdar: i have no idea how to fix...maybe try again...

So you can make new mods (rooms, battlefields) directly with this tool?

Nice.
