Hi. I was wondering if it would be possible to turn the different kinds of bandits etc into their own culture. For example where do the black khergits, forest bandits, sea raiders come from? How about creating a town (more like main encampment if they're nomads) where you can go? They'll have their own style of buildings and services. How about allowing the player to join one of these groups or have NPCs from these cultures that can join the player as heroes?
Why not have a Sea Raider outpost on the far end of the coast (on the Vaegir side which I assume is further north). There you could trade different kinds of goods (nordic weapons) and slaves (since the Raiders seem like pillagers and slavers). You could get passage to an invisible city and meet the lord/king of the Sea Raiders and pledge your alliegeance - he'll tell you to get x number of trade goods, horses, peasant slaves etc or capture a vaegir lordling to hold for ransom.
The Khergits, mountain bandits could have an encampment on the north side of the Swadian mountainy area. Same thing. They'd ask you more for horses and food. They could have a 'tournament' ground where the contests would be all mounted combat with traditional weapons. Maybe you have to win the combats to be able to join them.
The Forest bandits in the foresty area near Reyvaddin (I think). You find out why they're outlaws (are they robin hood types, revolted peasants or what?). If you're disliked by all the major factions you could join them. Their demands would be on better weapons and armor which they lack. Their tournament thing could be set in a forest clearing and instead of fighting there'd be an archery contest where you have to get a better score than your opponent. Need to prove your skill to join them.
In Dhorak Keep - is that the fort of the Dark Knights? I assumed it is. If it is how about if you're a really evil character and everyone hates you, go there and speak to their boss and ask to join them. You have to fight a dark knight and perform some kind of evil quest (capture and kill x number of peasants) to prove you're good enough.
Etc etc.
Contrary to another thread in this forum I don't think we need more cultures. There are plenty of cultures already its just that 80% of them are only enemies that you have no way of interacting with.
