You need to apply the texture onto the UV map by dragging the image onto the UV map in the outliner window
 
Kabs dunno why but I'm having a hard time remembering the name of the Graphics software your using, I know its made by Google but can't remember its name at all, atleast it looks similar to the google software.

yeah i must test it ! thanks, i just figured out how to make a new uv unfolding etc. now this also works.

You should use blender, not google sketch up or wings 3d, Blender is the best free software. Just go on youtube and look at the things people have made with it and you will understand :smile:

yeah but im really unsure about wich is better. olafson says the sketchup may be better, thandrius also working with wings scince its easy to handle and some others say blender... but where is the clear difference between them ?

i think i will test blender as next.

A suggestion I have is to not rely so heavily on pictures for your textures. It looks as if you take a picture, and edit it very little of not at all. It's not very subtle, and usually looks a bit off.

This isn't first hand advice, however. This is what Shredzorz tells me all the time. I am not very good at texturing. His textures, however, are always very seamless, nice and fit well into the game.

Double posting is posting once then posting again, its quite simple really and you did it twice on page 2, so its understandable why they said so, if your gonna post over yourself its better to just edit to avoid being prosecuted on it.

1. as i told, in wings the shadows are crazy for the objects and bringing them wierd on all the faces.

2. the white is looking more grey in wings than ingame.

About the textures themself i think u mean they look to photo like ?

(i heard also from olaf and thandrius, they would be bring to the ingame resolution after importing them to game)

Also it is no problem for me to make "any" texture seamless on the models. So i could use whatever texture i want. This were just the first trys.

The real problem is the frame house so far a little bit, because the frames are 3 objects themself. So because the unfolding with more than 100 litte faces is a little different to bring a good texture on it. If i unfold the object in wings, i have not much space where i can bring the different faces on the unfolding picture. Maybe there is a way to make this unfolding picture bigger in wings or maybe another 3d prog. Maybe someone knows ?

I know for myself, that the textures on the walls are looking to good atm.

But i must test first to bring them ingame to have a suggestion how they look after importing.

maybe i missunderstand something, but isnt it only the textures wich look to good?

if there is more, plz tell me !

Note: thats my really first things i made in 3d art :> so i am need still some time to learn and therefore i make the objects and this topic :wink:

aehm yes i understand, ok thats right. I am trying to compile the posts better, but its only because i often lack on time. so i just answer each question itself before i trying to build a wall of text no one can understand well. also it costs me less time if i dont have it normally :wink:
so please dont get angry about if i do this.

because of his text i more thought he means i should bring all pictures etc. on the first page. But i wouldnt do this because of more chaos then help.

I model since I can remember and I assure you, the best freeware for such things really isn't blender.

Blender indeed is a massive software with any option you can imagine but thats not what its about with making things for M&B:W. You can do just the same with Wings3D very quickly, without needing to learn anything.

If you want to do more complex things I do suggest anything like blender, maya or Zbrush(I love this last one).
 
Well I said blender becouse I use it, and I said sketchup becouse its like drawing. But sketchup costst money, and I dont want to spend any money for programms i dont need.

The method to unfold atm is projection mapping, i tried the cut method but its not unfolding all inner faces like frames, wood sticks (on tent).. so the cut method only woks with simple objects in my opinion.

here u can see wy the texturing for the house is that complicated:

btw: the small lines on the left upper corner are the last small faces u could see. there are about 30-50 more :>

and yes... i placed all the items on places for their seperate textures... and as u can see there was not much space to handle  >.<

update: i tried the seperate feature. its makes all the different meshes youve used for your model, cut back into each seperate pieces. Nice to mkae textures for each, but also a lot more work. But dont know how it looks if u combine them again from the textures :>


Update2: forget about what u ve seen before, i watched a good tutorial for extremly good unfolding...
