New factions?

For me it would be enough, if the AI and the freeroaming Lords would be able to create their own factions. I would highly welcome it, if they implement the ability to form alliances or call out a new kingdom. Or maybe being able to become independent without getting the "enemy of the state" penalty, which leads in an instant declaration of war.

The world needs to be more active and lively. Yes, the game is still Early Access and development will progress through time and they probably already have something like that in the backhand. But still, I wanted to share my thoughts with you. Even tho it might sound stupid and absolutely not welcome.

I don't think a fictional world has to be accurate in terms of corresponding to a set of real world cultures, but having another faction that is too culturally similar to an existing faction wouldn't be so great. So the point isn't that another faction has to be historically accurate, it's that the new faction should be quite a bit different than the existing factions. And since the existing factions are loosely based on an assemblage of different cultures that existed during the Dark Ages, it isn't a logical stretch that we could look for another set of cultures to draw from that existed during this time. That's why I suggested a black African faction in addition to another East Asian faction. Those two would be more unique and interesting than adding a Bulgarian or Armenian inspired faction, for example, in my mind (for starters because their armors and weapons wouldn't be too dissimilar from some of the ones already existing in the game). I think we have Europe pretty well covered, but that is my opinion.

Well, there is still a lot of unused space on the existing map. I would welcome another faction, which could be inspired by african cultures. Even native american like the Maya could be a welcome change. I just want more factions in the world, since the hand full of those, are pretty boring to see. More settlements, more possibilities to conquer, defend or lose. It would also be enough, if the existing factions would split up and create their own ones.

Yeah, I could be on board with a Mesoamerican inspired faction also. Some people say that we shouldn't necessarily look to real life cultures to get inspirations for a new faction, but it seems exceedingly difficult, to my apprehension, to create a new faction without drawing from some real-life inspiration -- otherwise you risk the faction seeming too "alien," or out of place, and that ruins the continuity of the game.

Even fictional factions are influenced by real ones. People should calm down and accept the fact, that the current factions are 100% influenced by real time medieval cultures. Yes we have the arabic faction in the game, but indeed I would welcome your option, or the mesoamerican one. It would be at least a contrast to the typical roman, western european and asian ones.

Yeah, I think african inspired faction something like medieval ethiopia or mali inspired faction would be really cool; would also like indian, and mesoamerican faction.

A Persian/Indian faction would be awesome. Always wanted proper elephants in the game but we never did get them.

A Chinese faction would be cool too since depending on what dynasty we draw from, they can be heavy armour with early gunpowder(Song), crossbow heavy with strong medium cavalry(Han), balanced all around(Tang) or lightly armoured but with good gunpowder(Ming).

I would guess if they went with a chinese faction it would probably be Han; I doubt they would add gunpowder based units to game.

SInce the game is based around real time century 1000 - 1100 they should stick with the Dynasty of that Period. But I agree with you too. Chinese would be really interesting.

I mean we could have early gunpowder stuff since it's hardly anymore OP than what Fian Champions or Sharpshooters are capable of. They do need to diversify the roster and what's better than some early gunpowder from the culture that invented it?

God, no.
This is not For Honor.
We all get that Calradia is fictional but there is obviously an atempt at historical resemblance. There shouldn't be something as childish as medieval knights fighting samurais or 7th century Tang warriors. I know kids love that kind of silliness but this is not the game for that.

In the era of 1044 / 1045 A.D. Wu-ching Tsung-yao mentioned the military use of gunpowder. But not any kind of rifle or other kind of weapon. They just used the powder to shock the enemies. It would be highly unaccurate to implement some kind of shooting units. Because the use of guns was around the end of the 13th century.
I think the mongols used some kind of copper barrels which shot steel balls. And that was in one battle of the year 1241 against the Slesians.

As you might not have learned in school, the romans and chinese had contact around that time.

Yeah, I personally think medieval mali/ethiopia and india should be doable as they would have been present. Especially since Mansa Musa 1 of mali was pretty famous in 14th century in europe and middle east. I think European Knights went searching for what they believed was a city of gold called timbuktu.

You do realise TW isn't restricted to real-life scenarios yeah? Something they have clarified in multiple blogs already.

Besides, gameplay always has a priority over historical accuracy. I'm not asking for for rifles or arquebuse, something akin to the tubes you mentioned.

a chinese faction is the gateway drug for dual wielding, samurais and other atrocities on a dark ages game.

Your premises literally boils down to "I don't like it and therefore it shouldn't be done".

TW's attempt at historical resemblance is in the presenting of the faction, their culture and their gear. There's no limitation on what can and will show up.

Yes you are right. I just wanted to say, that the actual factions ingame, are all based on the technology and development around 1000 - 1100 A.D.

It would just be ridiculous to add additional factions with an outdated standard of development, or with a higher developed technological level.

But either way, I would look forward to any kind of faction.

Yeah, I'm not too fuss about it tbh. Han or Song like faction would be great too.

Maybe put some Astecs and Elves at the game as well.
I don't see where you draw the line.

Don't get me wrong, I certainly enjoy games portraying medieval japan or chinese empires but they all target some sort of historical representationof a region and time period. My point for not having those cultures in a dark ages game is not that I just don't like it, it's that it brakes immersion for the majority of players that do enjoy some sort of accurate historical role play that is imbued in this game. The combat, economics and social relations are built and meant to be realistic, I don't understand why you believe that the cultural interactions and overall historical setting shouldn't.
