New factions?

Yes, I'm already thinking about what new factions can be added in later on.

1- An Ethiopian-inspired faction, taking up the aesthetics and feel of 4-8th Century Aksum and Himyar, maybe even with a nudge of Egyptian flair (very appropriate for the Nubians too). Let's call it Kush.

2- A Persian or Indian-inspired faction heavy on foot archers and heavy infantry. Let's call it the Padishash (Rhaegea is said to come from "the realm of the Padishah" in the game files).

3- A "holy order" style of faction similar to the Teutonic Knights, the Hospitallers or the Templars, maybe set in the empty land down under the Nahasa desert, at the coast.

4- An expeditionary Chinese or Japanese force, based on the Treasure Fleet of Zheng He.

5- Early Medieval Iberia? A man can dream.

Good ideas and i'm all for it, but realistically I think we will only see new factions/locations in a DLC separate from the main campaign.

There's a bit of an empty spot to the east -- my guess is that there might be plans to add the Padishah faction there, as well as open up the map a bit eastward, but I think that would be post-release DLC type of stuff (so it'll be a long time in the future).

I'd be most hopeful for the Ethiopian faction, in fact. With sweet Himyar-like masks and lion pelts. White would suit them as a colour.

I remember talking about elephants being in Bannerlord... Now if Persian or Indian-inspired faction were added. We would see some elephants on the battlefield :sneaky:

I like the idea of a persian or indian faction, but that's probably DLC stuff with the magnitude of the expansion.
For 3 and 4, they might not fit with the era, Bannerlord's background in real life was the migration period 500~900ish, the Crusades was later in the middle ages 1100s-1200s and Zheng He during the 1400ish.

Add a little city on the island off the coast of the southern empire (this would require boat transports to be a thing), the one south of Poros.
This would an independent city run by the Banking clan of Calradia
  • You and AI lords can take loans from them (e.g. to finance your wars) and hire elite mercenary companies from the city
  • But if you cant repay your debts, they'll raise an army of mercenaries to hunt you down and reposes any fiefs you have.
  • Any fiefs they capture("Reposess"), after 1 season are put up for auction to the highest bidding lord.
    • If no bidder is found an AI lord is spawned in and it becomes a free city.

Uruk-Hai...
oh and we have a heightslider... tall Uruk-Hai.
And fitting dwarves... and ah well.
Well one can dream.

For the actual map yea, something numidianish to the south maybe, and something aisian for the east.
Beside the fact that i personally would like some black tribe kind of faction and samurai are always a nice addition,
I suppose it would be nice for black and aisian people to have a faction with "their people", too.

You are going there :sneaky:
When LOTR mod comes out... It's going to be epic!

Still gives me the chills...

I really like this idea. I do think however that instead of outright taking your fiefs, they might just keep them for a while (like mortgage) until they pay off the debt with the rents (plus an extra of course). Also, add ships and give some use to islands.

Well i hope that will happen some day.
If my weired life let me i would gladly sink some hundret hours in the testing of such a mod.
Didn't done that since Roshas Wedding Dance in the times of old M&B, but good/immersive Lotro games are so rare...
The best i played was Third Age and its Submods (M.O.S.), a total war mod.
I mean look at how beautiful Bannerlord is and imagine it would be Middleearth <3

Edit: Or, when i see the poster before me, Coruscant or Tatooine <3

It is a game based on the position of the Byzantine Empire around the s. XI, I think (with a bit of fantasy putting a kind of Brytenwalda-style "Celts" in the middle). But I can't think of any big culture that isn't represented, maybe a little more chivalrous "Charlemagne" style, but there are actually many factions similar to that. A Chinese invasion coming from the east would be funny, but it sounds more like a mod. Ethiopian-Egyptian they are not of the time and never had anything to do with the medieval European wars.

I used to be the "historically accurate" police, back in the day, now it seems I'm not extreme enough and they kicked me out of the precinct :ROFLMAO:

Seriously, the map stretches from what feels like France to what feels like Persia and the Pontic Steppe. And southwards, it reaches what looks like Egypt. Why not stretch the map a bit southwards and add Ethiopia? Didn't it exist back then? What about Persia, which, you know, Sassanids, the big enemy of the Byzantines before the arrival of the Arabs? Put them at the big gap east of Husn Fulq. Another state with played the Persian-Roman game was the Himyarites and the Axumites, in the oribit of Ethiopia.

Now they all fit together. And if you add Persia and have already the Khuzaits, why not India, even more to the East?

And the Chinese invasion would not be from the East, but a fleet from the West. More fun this way. Maybe Zheng He can finally break the Vlandians.

It has been sort of confirmed they will add Naval warfare DLC, now in my opinion there is no real need for that in the current map.

SO what i hope for is that they could add another continent, so that when you finally conquer Calradia, congrats you just finished the tutorial, now you can invade the other continent by sea with naval warfare and a full fledged invasion
