Hi there! I first would like to thank Armagon and others for providing such an interesting new game to us beta testers! That being said I have a compiled a listing of things I have noticed in-game that may help in the development process. I am a Flash game developer and understand the process of bug testing and beta versions of games so I reserve most of my heavy judgements until after the full release of Tale Worlds.
First thing I noticed in-game was that the interface design seems sparse and incomplete. I only say this from the perspective of a game designer myself... this may not be the opinion of all the player base.
Secondly, I noticed in the Character window that some of the skill names' spacing is off and looks a bit awkward.
The next thing I noticed is that when selling quite few items to vendors, they run out of inventory space and the only way that I could get them to reset their inventory space was to quit the game and then restart it. On a related note, when you do max out their inventory, there is no way to cancel the trade... so if you click one too many items into their inventory, you basically have to buy something that you do not want just to get out of the trade... doing so makes you lose money.
This is a battle-related problem. I started the game as a hunter, so I started with high archery. Because of this the bow and arrow came up first in my inventory. This all makes sense to me, however it allowed me to notice a bug and this bug is that when you enter a battle and have the bow equipped as the FIRST inventory slot... it MAKES YOU draw your bow and fire an arrow right away, right when the battle is initiated. So if I start a battle with the bow and arrow -- I ALWAYS lose one arrow right off the bat -- unless I manage to hit the defend button before the arrow goes off, but there must be good timing to do so.
This is another archery related bug, when riding your horse and using archery from the back of the horse. If you dismount the horse while having your bow drawn, you get off the horse -- but continue to draw the bow as if you are still on the horse. This is really weird because when in that strange floating position, you cannot see yer enemies at all. So the exact steps it took to get there were:
1. Be mounted on a horse.
2. Draw your bow.
3. Look down until you see the "Dismount" command come up.
4. Dismount you horse.
5. At this point, when you try to aim, you will notice that you are floating in midair and have HUGE problems playing the game this way.
Also, I think the interface for viewing your party could be a bit more intuitive... it is often times difficult for me to figure out how to view my party members individually. Is it possible to outfit your unique party memebers as well? Like the guy who you give the padded cloth to... it hard for me to know if he is getting better or if he is just staying the same. If anyone has any insight into how to see his details, please let me know.
I would also suggest creating a documentation PDF or document of some sort... explaining a bit more about controls and such. In addition, in your website some of the images in the "Main" section appear to have a VAST amount of pixelization... makin them almost unviewable. Also, the "Screenshots" section does not display any of the image thumbnails, this should be a simple fix and would make your site seem a lot more professional. If you need any consulting on this, just let me know.
That is everything I have noticed thus far. But wanted to make mention of a few more things that seem a bit odd to me. In a lot of the vendor buildings, like the Inns and such... it strikes me as odd that there is little to no furniture or items in their shops. It makes that game feel somewhat incomplete. I might suggest adding counters, tables, items (like their wares) and possibly torches or lighting of some sort. I think this would do a lot to enhance the game from a 'realism' perspective.
But yes, I really like what you have done and I think it is quite amazing that you two have done what you have done on just two people. Great work!!! ) I think that once you have done some work with the interface, done more work with graphical and model details and worked out a lot of the bugs this game will be a hit! Let me know if you ever wish to hook up via email or instant messenger to discuss playability or graphical issues and I would be more than happy to hold a discussion with you two.
I look forward to seeing this game come to fruition! Great work and thanks again!
