Hi everyone,

I have decided I want to do an AAR for Prophesy of Pendor (Maybe it will give me the motivation to complete it for the first time!) and I want to find out a couple of things from you guys before I begin.

Firstly- Style of writing. Would you prefer I write the report as a player, or as though I was the character? I guess there are benefits to both, but I reckon that writing as the character would allow me to pile in far more of the lore of Pendor, and make it seem more like a novella. Is this the sort of thing people want?

Secondly- Play Style. I usually end up playing a heavily armoured nobleman, charging around on a horse. I definitely don't want to do that this time. I also don't want things to be too easy (Because where's the fun in that?) I thought about seeing whether I can create an army out of one of the minor factions, but am not sure how I would go about it. Alternatively, I play with the least popular faction, so you guy can see that all the factions have their merits.

Anyways, hope to see a couple of replies to give me a few pointers before I start. I am an experience player (Logged 950 hours) so please, feel free o make it difficult for me!

Regards,
Shrikey

Maybe try to beat the game without becoming a vassal?

And I prefer that you write in character.

Switching in and out of character at your whim with some dose of light humor seems to work best in terms of entertainment. You don't need to set yourself too many rules.

However, if you really want a heavy RP that would resemble a novella, do that.

I'm going with Vaders idea I think, though I might make a couple of minor tweaks of my own.

That means I'm joining no factions, recruiting no lords. Keep an eye out for the first entry- I'll detail my rules in detail there, where I can be held accountable by you guys if I fail...

Faction depends on how easy or hard you want to make the game. For a decent challenge I'd go with Sarleon. A solid troop tree but low renoun lords who mostly dislike each other. Would probably make for a more entertaining game than say Feirds who have lots of high renoun lords who like each other. Unless you're masochistic I wouldn't go with a minor faction as most of the game will focus on recruiting if you do that. A good challenge but probably way too boring to want to document it.

Didn't vote for a faction as I hope you write about what you're most passionate about. Even if I don't care much about the ravens.

I personally like Vader's described AAR format the best but only when it's natural to the writer. I don't judge AARs harshly as they are a treat after all but I do like the ones that people put in more effort -- be it though more well thought out prose, photos etc. Humor is always a big plus!

Look forward to reading it -- unless it's about the ravens, just kidding.

Come to think of it: aren't we all expecting an AAR from you, missy?

I have some of the pieces collected but now I'm really torn now about writing one on how to be an unsuccessful horse archer in 30 days or less. :-/  I'm giving Floris a go and just can't take it much longer -- the troop names are driving me nuts. I don't know if I"m training spearman or archers.

So, um, yeah. I hope to do one but I am soooo lazy sometimes. I did in my defense write a blog post on how great TW and the mods are though .

Hahaha, and troop names driving you mad? try Brytenwalda.

The first step to being a good writer is being a good reader, i'm guessing you've already gone through your fair share of AAR's in the past.
If not, this list may be worthy to check.

Tried the lord less playthrough and then realized there was a bug... I couldn't speak to the elder to make militia patrols even when I had the building. Also I realized there was no milita patrols on the entire map

No idea when this started happening, all my past games had militia patrols in them.
