I predict that a lot of people will be shouting "WoW ripoff", what with 4th Ed and Cryptic.

I'll probably give it a try, but I'm not getting any hopes up for this.

They made those couple Super Hero dress-up-game MMO's.

In fairness to them, the CoH, CoV and Champions Online games were nothing like bog standard MMOs, so if they keep that up, Neverwinter shouldn't turn out to be a WoW clone.

I flipped through a 4th ed book once, i think was player classes stuff, it was full of special abilities to use in combat - it had the feel of a combat miniature game more than what not.

I also dropped NWN2 again, crappy no-divine-damage holy avenger and boring endgame.

Meh. I don't like 4ed, but I need a new graphics card before I can play anything like that. Unless they release it on Xbox, but I really don't wanna get a D&D game for the Xbox.

I'd rather play on the Dalelands server for NWN2. The module is a bit small right now, but I'm going to be one of the new builders for the server.

I would rather play Final Fantasy XIV than suffer through this abomination. That's how much I despise 4ed. CoH and Champions were ok in my book. Just ok though, though Champions is, to date, the only MMO where I've maxed out.

Crossroads keep was nice, but the rest of the OC was cliched crap. Get MotB, it's much better. And I'd like to note that the tabletop HA doesn't deal divine damage.

Yeah I have NWN2 Gold, but the plan was to finish OC and continue on to MOTB. I don't know about tabletop, but the HA did divine damage vs evil in the first NWN which is what I'm used to. It still does bonus damage vs evil in NWN2 but it's normal which felt really wrong to me. At the point its found, it pales next to what you can find/craft in NWN2.

It actually plays out like an MMO, with everyone having a bazillion superpowers to use and only a handful of ways to effectively use each class. It's great if you're skimming over the combat and the characters have a story justification for being ungodly overpowered supermen, but otherwise you're better of with 3rd edition and some houserules.

If I can ever get my main computer back up on it's feet, I'm planning on making a modern superhero game based on 4th edition (combined with a few other superhero games that I've collected over the years). It won't be balanced and it will be completely min-maxable, but it should be quite fun to see the players create the characters of their dreams and pit them against the villains I've come up with. If I throw in a couple of specially made "foil" villains every once and a while to try to keep the heroes on their toes, things should be fun all around.

4th Edition = ?

****.

So I saw the trailer a couple days ago, and it looked like standard MMO fare. If it's actually 4th Ed, I've lost the near-minimal interest I had.

I suspect this thread will hit the second, third, or even fourth page after a few days. Then when a new video is posted or whatnot, it'll use second wind like a 4th Ed character and come back to the first page on its own.
