Recruit
Hey, I'm about to start my own faction, and I have close to 1k troops in a castle I own. I'm currently in the Khergit faction, and I'm planing on taking over another town and then rebel when the king won't give me more towns. I know I will have to fight Khergits in a war, so I'm guessing they are going to try to siege me straight away. I really want my archers as first defence, I think, but I'm not sure how I can arrange that. Will the troops that are highest up in my town be the ones that has to fight first? And if so, is there a way to move my archers higher up? I know how it works when I have the troops in my army, but I can't press the up and down arrows in my town. Please help, so I can choose which troops fight first. Thanks in advance!

(sorry if this has been asked before, or if the answer is really obvious)

Troops at the top of the list in both field battles and sieges etc are always deployed the first (expect the companions they are always deployed)  so if you want the best of men at the first Assault you should place them at the top it may take a while if you a lot of men in the town/castle PS i would rather wait a while for the Khergit to start a war or two so they aren't putting all their forces on you and ignore you for at least a while or if you really don't want to wait provoke other kingdoms a bit

If I were you, I would put heavy infantry at the top of your list to start your siege, if you haven't noticed already, spamming Rhodok sergeants, Nord Huscarls, or even cavalry troops like mamlukes, lancers, and knights, all result in a slice n dice of the sieging opponents. I personally put 30-40 Swadian knights at the top of my list and they kill everything.

Just make sure you can deal massive casualties without receiving them. Archers are good at first, but when the enemy gets inside, they die quickly.

Hope this helped

Companions ARE NOT always deployed. They deploy under the same rules as everybody else.

Higher trooper (or companion) is on the list, higher is the chance that he/she will be deployed in the battle -or as part of the reinforcements (if any). This apply to individuals not groups, so chance is also influenced by size of certain group/type in your roster.

In your case, placing archers on top will make them deploy at the start of the battle more likely. But there will always be other soldiers who will deploy as well, it just that you can expect more archers on the walls at the start of the battle then if you place them at the bottom.

Unfortunately you can't reorder groups inside the castle, they remain in the order in which they have being placed in to garrison. Only way to reorder them is to take away and then put back groups one by one. If however there is group which is larger then your army space, you're out of luck.
