Need Help with modding (specefically thogrims map editor)

So about a month ago I got warband and I immediately thought oh I can finally start my mod now, I
thought I will just get a map maker and be good to go, well unfortunately it seems that no one wants to
work with me. well instead of giving up I decided oh I will do it myself so I downloaded the tools made to
mod mount and blade but I have problems THE TOOLS ARE SO OUTDATED THAT THEY BASICALLY CANNOT
WORK FOR WARBAND ESPECIALLY THE MAP EDITOR. So the troop editior is the only tool I can get
working now, the map editor dosent work for me i can only move 2 cities out of the whole game the rest I cant select or work with and if I cant move cities I cant make a new map.(and I am not going to take the time to move it the old fashioned way, that process is painfully slow and frustrating and I rather work 10 hours on other areas of making my mod then work 1 trying to paste coordinates for cities and hope to god they work.) also pyme dosent save my changes so I haft to edit the hard way. basically with no new map theres no point in making the mod and most people play warband over 1.011 so really it seems im going to be stuck for a little while until I can get a map maker that knows what there doing.

P.S. If someone can help me with the city bug in the map editor that can be enough help to actually be able to release my mod.

I am in a bit of the same problem. Right now I'm experimenting with the modules & stuff but changing the world map is a huge deal. Technically there are ways to make Thorgrim's editor work. All you'd have to do would be to download normal M&B, backup the map *.sco file and paste in the Warband map *.sco file, edit it in the editor and then copy the modified map back to Warband.
Also you can try to make one from scratch as shown here: http://mbmodwiki.ollclan.eu/Making_a_Campaign_map

After i figure out how to add some cities to the map I will also start modifying the wolrd map.
Hope my info helped you!

People are making Warband maps and mods all the time. You just need to figure out how - use the forum search.

Sooomeone is confusing scenes with the strategic maap!

-The
插入代码块:
\SceneObj\scn_*.sco
files you are talking about are scenes, the ones used in action mode, visiting places like cities or villages or battling. That you edit with the in-game edit mode (Ctrl+E).

-The
插入代码块:
map.txt
file stores the 3d model of the strategic map. Vertices, triangles and materials used. That you edit with Thorgrim's Map Editor.

@thelastpatriot: PyME doesn't work for 1.011, not to talk about Warband. The only tool you need (aside of the MapEditor) is the ModuleSystem, if you want to make a real mod, not a tweak-bunch, and about the Editor not working properly with cities: the information is here. Quoted for ease:

I also had this problem, but I found quite an easy workaround for it: First, define all parties you're going to use (you can use my ParMak to do this easily) and place them all on one coordinate. Compile your mod and open up the MapEditor. You will see all of your parties on this one coordinate, looking horrible. Anyways, open up your Notepad++ text editor of choice that you use for your ModuleSystem and dock it on the right side of your screen. If you have AutoHotkey or something similar installed, you can also make the text editor's window to stay always on top for ease of use.
In the MapEditor, go to the position where you want the first of your new parties to be. Pressing Z while in the Editor will show you the mouse's current coordinates on the map, and will copy them on your clipboard. So just pick a position, press Z, click onto your text editor window and replace the first party definition (from the ones you created just a while ago) 's coordinates to the ones you have in your clipboard.
Play some music, rinse and repeat. You'll get into a rhytm soon, and this is actually quite a fun job to do.
Filling up the map for TBS (my mod-in-the-works) required around 2.5 hours (for ~3000 parties on a gigantic map).

Hope this helps!
and if I see this question asked one more time, I'm gonna write a full-fledged tutorial that will be called "How to use Thorgrim's Map Editor to edit maps in Warband (compatible with WFAS and NW)" (provided that it really is compatible with the last two...)
Or I could write that tutorial right now, if anyone says that it'll be useful.

Using "the old fashioned way" with the fast procedure, as described by me in the spoilered quote above, is actually quite fast and fun to do. You just have to remember to get yourself a drink, play some music and relax.

@MadVader: well, what is the reason-to-be for modding forums if not sharing information? an attitude like "don't tell the noobs" and "you just need to figure out how" is not really helping.

You are right, I was half-kidding there. The problem is the attitude - if someone can't be bothered to ask nicely or spend some time to work out the problem, there is a moral case for not helping.
Everyone would gladly help nice people who try their best.
