So I've been playing this game for a while and I noticed that in servers with 100+ players, my fps does really poorly. Like 10-25 fps region. It's horrible.

my specs are
Radeon 7870 2GB
Intel i5 3570k 3,4 Ghz
AsRock Pro-Z

I mean, these specs can run the most technically demanding games on ultra. And since Mount and Blade engine is kinda old, it shouldn't be a problem. I have shadows set at "low", max fps is set at 300. Antialiasing is off, resolution is at 1080p and it uses DirectX 9. The game says estimated performance is 200%. What is it that's killing my fps? During games with 30 or so players, fps is consistently above 60 fps.

Put max fps at 60 and it should go better. 300 is a number you cannot reach anyway, so it will just go up and down which is far more irritating.

60 FPS is fine, unless you use 3D.

A human does not quickly see the difference between 30 fps and 60 fps aswell, unless you get adrenaline from playing games(if you see the difference between these two when playing a game, TAKE A BREAK!). There are many gamers saying they can see the difference between 60 and 120, but don't mind them, they are the kind of people that try to actively search for differences and will notice differences even if they are not there. Don't believe me? Tell a game addict your screen is 60 fps while it is a 120 and see how annoyed he gets.

about 24fps is the minimum to fool a human into thinking it is reality and no frames are used but most, especially young people, need it a bit higher. 60fps is usually taken because this isn't hard for a computer at all, it is a nice maximum that runs good with graphic cards and will surely help you see your screen without problems. 120fps should be your maximum if you want to go high, this is also required with a couple of 3D glasses.

300 fps is ridiculous, it is only used in the film industry because it can be reduced to many other numbers without any trouble.
